Long time no see!! Exciting news from me!!

Specialkat, 7 September, 2009 at 23:37 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

Hi Everyone

I've been lurking lately but wanted to say hello.

My update is 12 months after my brain haemorrhage and I was given the all clear from the docs. I signed up with a personal trainer who has been steadily whooping my backside for the last 7 weeks. I have managed to lose 3 dress sizes and gained more energy than I know what to do with.

I am still battling the cancer scare with several ops lined up before a decision is made about me needing radiotherapy. Fingers crossed the various drugs I am trying work and they can save my uterus.

To help with my recovery I have enrolled on a marathon bike ride that takes place at the end of October. Can I be cheeky and post a link to my just giving page. I don't expect many of you to donate as I really appreciate the tough climatre we are in at the mo but if any of you who have really supported me through some rough times over the last 18 months would have a spare few pounds I would be grateful for your sponsorship. This time last year I was wheelchair bound not knowing if I would regain my ability to walk again let alone ride a bike.

I have chosen a Pedal in Pink event as I know too many people who have been affected by cancer, especially breast cancer. If I can do a little bit to help fight this evil C then it's worth every bit of pain that the bike ride will bring.

My web site is www.justgiving.com/kerrieheath

Thanks to every single one of you who have supported me and kept me going through the dark times of past.

Lots of love

Kerrie

Hi Kerrie, lovely to 'see' you.

Wow, 3 dress sizes! That's bloomin' impressive! You have done so incredibly well over the last couple of years with all that life has thrown you. You always seem so strong and it doesn't suprise me at all that you'd put yourself through something as challenging as that bike ride. I'll gladly sponsor you when I get home (can't access it at work).

I didn't know about the cancer scare. I'm so sorry that you're going through that on top of everything else. What operations are they planning? I'm keeping my fingers super tightly crossed for you ?

    Hi Kerrie

I don't think I was around on here when you were before but I just wanted to say that it sounds like you're making really fantastic progress and I wish you all the very best x

    WOW, an inspiration.

As I've told you before, my Dad died of a brain haemorrhage, and sadly my Mum has just been diagnosed with breast cancer (had a mastectomy last Thurs).

I would be happy to donate, although I won't until tomorrow as I'm off here until then.

Well done, I wish you all the best and wonder what my excuses are all about after reading this! Good luck xx

    Hi PP

Believe it or not the cancer scare is linked to my PCOS. I went for a scan in Jan 08 to plan ICSI and they discovered I have complex hyperplasia in my womb which is final stage before cancer. Had some biopsy's done under General Anaesthetic and they thought they could sort it out with drugs as it had been caught early enough. Went onto drugs to sort it out and 6 weeks later had my brain haemorrhage. Totally unlucky for me and not connected at all but all drugs had to stop until meds for brain were under control. Had more biopsy's done in March 09 and they were found to still be complex hyperplasia so more drugs were prescribed (drugs are meant to induce bleeds causing hyperplasia to leave the womb). Drugs have not been working much. Seemingly the only guarantee to remove the chance of endometrial cancer is to have a hysterectomy but as I want kids we are trying everything else first. If left untreated it would be cancer within months. But now I have been told there is a new op available at the new hospital in derby that means they take some of the lining and all of the hyperplasia but leave the womb intact. I have more biopsy's done on 8th October and discuss other treatments then. I am not giving up though. The big man upstairs had his chance to take me last year and he didn't want me so I not letting this do me in!!! Hence the personal trainer and total lifestyle change!!

Hope you are ok. Have been lurking on BT and have kept up with your rough ride of recent months. Hope you are keeping your chin up and not giving up either. Loving your cakes by the way and might have a challenging one for you!!! I'll message you through Facebook.

    Take Care

    xxxxx

Oh Kerrie, that's all so incredibly unfair. I can't believe that one person can go through so much. I just want to give you a super big hug and make it all go away. I really hope that the drugs start doing their thing soon, or at worst, the operation is successful and not too painful.

I've been following your gym visits on FB, sounds like you're a completely new person. Have you done some before and after photos? I'd love to see.

If there's ever anything I can do you know you've only got to say. Even if it's just a lift somewhere or something. I'm still not that far away.

And I'm up for a challenging cake - I shall be Duffette! ? (unless you watch Ace of Cakes you won't get that but it made me laugh ?)
