Look at what I made...

ooh la la, 3 June, 2009 at 10:10 Posted on Planning 0 40

...to be given to friends and family to celebrate our engagement.

As you know, we got engaged in Bakewell, so this will be a theme running throughout our wedding. (Things like having Bakewell Pudding as a dessert at our wedding.) So when I saw these Bakewell Pudding lollies, I HAD to buy them.

I bought cellophane bags and some red polka dot ribbon, then made the tags on Photoshop. The tags match with our engagement announcement postcards, if you can remember them?!

I love them. You could do something along those lines when it comes to favours and place cards.

    Thanks!

I know a few people wont "like" lollies, but it's the thought that counts, isn't it?!

BTW - If you missed it, this was the engagement announcement postcard -

ETA - That's a good idea Zippy, I'll have to keep that in mind Smiley smile

Now, I'd always referred to them as tarts, but the "pudding maker" in Bakewell, said that they aren't tarts, they're "puddings"!

Ooh I love those lollies, they look yum. They used to do old style lollies similar to them when we went to Derbyshire on holiday, so I'm having them as our favours as we got enagaged in Matlock Bath and making sure there's loads left over so I get to eat them?

    Thanks DWC,

I think it is going to be country styled; quite informal, with tonnes of fresh flowers and floral bunting EVERYWHERE. I've already started on the bunting as I have to make about 100m of the stuff and am making it out of Cath Kidston remnants and my late Nain's 1950's, floral dresses!! (And it will be used for our engagement BBQ)

Oh, and I've started collecting vintage lemonade bottles as favours/table decorations.

They look a bit like this...

Everything looks brilliant! I am currently mad about red with white spots and own a 50s style swimsuit with matching chiffon(ny), short kaftan(ny) type thing. Still need to loose a teeny bit of weight for the swimsuit.

I can't wait to see all this coming together. *girly hand claps*

    Sorry to crash but . . .

Ooooh BWC - lady after my own heart! Have you come across this website for 50's polka dot swimsuits frocksawayvintage?

I'm trying to pluck up the courage to get a Vivien of Holloway 50's dotty dress for a wedding this month.

I love Vivien of Holloway! Please buy one and post loads of pics. I've never bought from there but regularly drool over the dresses (you've seen my one of my pairs of specs so you can imagine my longing!).

I really like the cherry print fabric on the frocksaway site. My swimsuit is very like the red and white one on the homepage.

Sounds gorgeous! Me too - I have already bought a 50's stylie prom dress from Wallis for it but I still keep looking longingly at the VoH site with all the petticoat trimmings. Just a bit worried I'll end up looking like an old muttony pantomime dame. Smiley sad

I shall be wearing this to our engagement BBQ. Our theme is "the quintessential British Summer holiday," so BBQ, Pimms, bunting, a sand pit, deck chairs, a paddling pool, etc... (hopefully it will all fit in the wincy garden!)

The whole ensemble I have chosen to wear, doesn't really go with the theme, but it's my party and I'll wear it if I want to!!!

    (silly cat again....)
