Looking for advice...TIA

Hi,

I'm new to the WL forum so hello all ?. Some of you may know me from WP (?!?)

Anyways, about two years ago I was a dedicated member of WW, I was not 'fat', but had managed to shed a stone, which I was chuffed with. I was a regular at a local gym (on the ladies nights) and loved it. Since starting Uni, (two Septembers ago) I have put that stone back on and would love to shed it again.

So, I'd like some advice please.....I walk 3/4 miles a day (to Uni and back) and try to eat as healthily as possible, but can't seem to get anywhere. I'm really stressed with Uni work at the mo, so will fall into the arms or a Crunchie or Whispa on a Friday/Saturday night. Apart from this, I eat good meals, but maybe a bit too much.

I have done the...

cabbage soup diet - constantly felt sick!

WW - hated that I was constantly obsessing with food and felt a little patronised at the meetings.

Atkins - felt bloated the whole time.

Dr Gillian McKeith - Too expensive to buy all the supplements.

I'm not keen to join a gym again as I only liked my local one as it was a ladies only gym, but most mainstream gyms I've been to seem too elitist and stuck-up. I'm currently saving to buy a cross-trainer, to "Gym" at home.

So, really, I'd like you ladies to help me get back on track. What do you suggest I do diet-wise?

Is there a gym phobs near you?. If not have a look round the gyms in your area as one may meet your needs more than another. Some gyms are elitist whereas others aren't. I have a cross trainer at home, a gravity walker and its great. I do between 2 and 4 miles on it a day which involves 2 25 minute work outs a day. Also have you thought about swimming?.

I am doing WW at home and it suits me. My BMI is fine but my hip waist ratio certainly isn't.

    Hi

I'm not doing a diet per se, just trying to control portion size and eat healthier. I also started running a month or so ago and have so far lost 1 stone since January.

I'm enjoying running but maybe you could try power walking, swimming or perhaps join some sort of team at Uni .... netball? football?etc

    Good luck x

    Hi, thanks for the advice.

So, from this I guess I should go ahead and buy the cross trainer and maybe portion control?!

    Thanks x

If you've done ww before, why not look back at your old stuff and review portion sizes and meal planning. See if it helps you see where you can adjust things in your diet.

Is there a curves gym near you? they are all ladies only.

TBH I wouldn't try any of these faddy diets, ateotd you have to make changes for life to maintain. Healthy eating and exercise is the only way to go really.
