Looking for weddings in Midlands area.

Hi all!

I don't know if I'm in the correct section or not but can't see anywhere else my request would fit into.

I am trying to start up a photography business and am looking for weddings to photograph. I have done plenty of portrait shoots, etc but have never shot a wedding before.

I am looking for anybody who is getting married soon who would be kind enough to let me shoot their wedding. I don't have to be the only photographer taking pictures (you can still have your own wedding photographer there but I could be a second shooter).

I am offering to do a few weddings for free just to gain some experience so if you are getting married soon then let me know if you are interested in using me.

In return you would get a free cd of images from your wedding.

HI Bella,

Its very unlikely any photographer that is booked through a wedding here is going to let an unknown photographer come along for the ride.

Shooting weddings is completely different to shooting portraits, and requires a totally different set of people skills (you can't go back and take the shot again if its wrong!).

There are a couple of ways to go about getting up and running (speaking here from experience). First, join an organisation like the Guild of Wedding photographers (www.photoguild.co.uk) where you can get some really good training (they also do wedding courses). Second would be to approach a photographer near to you (but not in the same county) and offer your services for free as a 2nd shooter. its very unlikely someone in your county will take you on, as once you are ready to go it alone you will be direct competition to them.

To expect to just go along to someone's wedding without any wedding experience and shoot is not really practical (or advisable).
