Lovely gesture...but which one?

katie80uk, 28 August, 2014 at 14:33 Posted on Planning 0 5

On our wedding night we are just staying at home as we have the kids but we were thinking about arranging a night away the night after as our wedding night

My mates have said they want to pay for this and find somewhere nice for us which is lovely as we didnt ask for wedding presents and didnt expect any.

But my work have also said that they are clubbing together and wanted to do this! Such lovely people i have in my life but which one should i let do it, my mates or my work?

You could suggest the hotel room from one and a meal and champers from another?

They both asked at roughly the same time so cant remember, my work mates said they had been thinking about it for ages and my mates said when i was out with them a few weeks back they wanted to. None of them have actually booked anything yet. Yeah meal from one and hotel from the other would be a good idea, means they both arent spending too much x

I wish i could, we have 2 kids so just getting 1 night away is going to special. We begged the grandparents to have the kids on the Saturday night overnight :-)

If you can only get the one night away, make it as special as you can by using both sets of whip round money for things that you wouldn't ordinarily be able to do.

Eg, rather than just going for breakfast in the restaurant, order breakfast in bed. Or champagne and strawberries. If there is a spa on site, book yourselves in for a massage each, or ask for vouchers for a nearby spa that you can use later that day. If time alone is rare, make sure you spend every minute you can until you have to go and retrieve the kids, doing nice stuff....whether that is getting matinee tickets to a show, or just ordering extra room service and having duvet time....

Having two lots of money to do this with, will ensure you get a really nice night/day. What lovely friends you have!
