Luxury in Mexico

If you're looking to avoid Cancun, I highly rate the Riviera Maya area - look for Playa del Carmen and Playacar. We stayed near PDC and it was lovely, loads to do but much more laidback than I would imagine Cancun to be. There are lots of hotels to choose from, I guess it depends what you're looking for really.

Riviera Maya is gorgeous, try the Eldorado Seaside Suites, we went there last year on holiday for two weeks, it rained everyday we were there but it didn;t take away from the holiday, the place is adults only, rooms are all amazing, hot tubs in them, beach and pools are lovely, staff are the nicest staff we have ever encountered and the food is to die for, all a la carte no buffets and all the alcohol is branded and included in the allinclusive package, couldn;t recommend more highly! Bet holiday we have ever had, just wish we had saved it for our honeymoon!

H2b's cousin has just got back from her honeymoon at Eldorado Seaside Suites and she hasn't stopped raving about it. She said she had an amazing time and her and her new husband were treat like royalty xx

I spent 6 weeks in Mexico last year travelling and volunteering and the most amazing place I visiting was called Tulum. It's about 1 hour down the carribean coast from Cancun and its absolutely beautiful. I loved it so much that I am considering going back for my honeymoon next year. I couldn't recommend a hotel as I stayed in hostels however when Ive been looking Ive found some gorgeous suites that are on the beach which would would be so lovely. There are also ancient ruins nearby if you like that kind of thing and you can get a ADO bus (like a luxury coach) anywhere from the station.
