Made to measure BM dresses

Sarah67, 10 May, 2012 at 14:16 Posted on Planning 0 7

Has any one had their BM's dresses made by a seamstress instead of buying them and if so how much were they?

I was quoted £110.00 per dress but I had to supply material and patterns.

Maids to measure is an online shop with sketches that you pick and put your measurements in. They're about £200 a dress.

I'm in Yorkshire and I'm paying around £70 per dress and the fabric was £80 for three dresses. I couldn't find the right colour on the high street and couldn't afford the dessy ones!

It's at a place called Customised Sewing in Mytholmroyd (nr Halifax) She is a dress maker rather than a designer so she is working of a pattern but I have been able to customise elements.

I couldn't tell you. My BM dress for my younger BM (I had a MOH and a BM) was made by my aunt, so it didn't cost me anything - I can't even remember who paid for the material! - the BM was a child of a friend of the family and I was asked if she could be one as she had no sisters or cousins etc that were going to be able to ask her to be one. I believe the arrangement was that if I agreed, they would pay for the material and my aunt would make the dress (I think this was all looked into before I was asked lol)
