Went to see Madonna on Saturday night, Millennium Stadium Cardiff.
Gates opened 30 minutes late at 6pm, everyone piled in. Crowd waited 3 hours for her to turn up, no support bands to keep folk occupied, restless crowd did some mexican waves, clapped, cheered, then booed as they were tired of waiting.
She started at about 9pm, gave a good show, didnt sing some of her songs but kind of improvised over backing tracks of a couple of her tunes. 4 different costumes, lots of dancing etc etc. 11pm all done, screens come down with 'game over' written on them, lights go up, no encore. Thats was it.
Quite disappointing really, I expected a lot more.
Went to see REM last night in Cardiff Arena.
Doors opened 6pm, First support act get to it at 7pm - The Guilimots. Theyre first song 'get over it' was their peak the rest of what they played was dross, with no particular tune just messy noise (sounds like Im becoming an old codger) Second support followed - Editors. Really really good, I liked them lots and they played 45 mins, excellent.
REM came on at 9pm to rapturous applause and screaming and played a fantastic set. The crowd went bonkers, they played new stuff and lots of the old classics too, they really were fantastic. 5 songs for encore one being Loosing my Religion which was just brilliant and I left the arena, a very very happy bunny.
I am no totally knackered and have come to the conclusion that 2 gigs in a weekend is just too much for me!
