Maid of honour dilemma!

Nolan2B, 10 April, 2010 at 22:21 Posted on Planning 0 8

So my MOH & OH's BM are a couple & my dilemma is she told me yesterday they are trying for a baby!! I mean yay for them but what if she is due at the time of the wedding???? April 24th 2011 btw or what if she falls after I have ordered the dress & we've had final measurements she's going to cost me a fortune in alteration bills! She said she wouldn't expect me to keep her if she will be more than 6 months at the time but I can't ask someone else at that short notice it'll be like you're my 2nd choice!

If she is the person you want the most then why dont you wait and get her dress last minute. Are you having any other bridesmaids? x

Me and OH are trying for a baby and to be honest if i fell pg and had a massive bump I wouldn't give a t**s! I'd walk down the aisle in a bin bag lol Smiley smile

I wouldnt worry about it this early on but then that's just me!! Or alternatively, order the dress bigger and have it taken in???? Or leave it as late as poss to order dresses? She could even have had the baby by then lol Smiley smile If you're ordering dresses 5 months before the wedding you would either know if she was pg by then or know roughly how big a bump she'll have!!!

No other brtidesmaids other than my cousin's little girl who's 5 as flower girl, I really don't think I could deal with the stress of trying to get her a dress last minute the lady in the shop said 5 months was the latest because they are made to order.

If she's your only bridesmaid why not buy her dress high street? That way it can be last minute (ish) and fit her.

I've already set my heart on the material for the dresses & the FG dress will match so would be very difficult to but high street & find the right colour! That website is fab but a bit pricey for my budget!!

I don't mean this to be blunt so apologies in advance but either having your bm pregnant or not is important or a certain material for dresses. If you have already bought the material then fair enough but most materials are available in every shade possible so would it really matter if the material had to change.

Obviously getting a dress at the last minute isn't ideal but you have a year before your wedding so why not wait until nearer the time when you'll know if a baby is expected or not. So many things can happen in a year so I really wouldn't stress about it. x

What PurrfectGems said. I will be BM for my sister E in 3 weeks time. I will be 37 weeks pregnant. The dresses were bought about a month before I fell pregnant. I am paying for mine to be altered. The top half will be the same as the other 4 BMs but the bottom bit will be completely different and will tie in with the flower girl (my 3 yr old daughter).

If it happens. it happens. I know of another hitcher who has just been BM 3 days before her due date. She looked lovely.

I only meant the link as an example of maternity style BM dresses. There are many many more around that would be cheaper but this was the first one I came across.

I have to say that I think that you are being a little selfish and presumptuous - you have ages to go yet and it may not even be an issue and if your main worry is that you might not be able to have the material that you want rather than your BM being lucky enough to have a baby then you need to look at your priorities.

I'm sorry if that sounds a little blunt and I understand that it is your day but I would love it if my BM was pregnant at my wedding, bump would get to be in the pictures!
