We are having a friend make a three tiered fruit wedding cake but also wanted to have a sponge option for guests who don't eat fruit cake. So we thought we would order chocolate cupcakes from Waitrose as they are a good price. We would ask for a tier of sponge but our friend can only make fruit cakes and this will be her first wedding cake so we don't want to make demands of her.
So as we want the 3 tier cake as the main cake but also want to have cupcakes too, how would you display this on your cake table? We don't want our friend to think we have a 'back up cake' or that her cake isn't important but we feel we do have to provide anothher option. Should we just display the 3 tier cake and then bring out cupcakes later or ahve a cupckae tower next to the 3 tier cake?
Is anybody else having more than one cake?
