Major dress wobbles - with new flash!!

vicster, 26 October, 2011 at 16:00 Posted on Planning 0 22

So with two months to go I have major dress wobbles Smiley sad don't see that there's much I can do. I don't know what it is but it doesn't wow me, I'm now not convinced it's the right shape at all. I have it at home - trying it on hasn't changed my mind. I got it in a sample sale and I think I was just soo chuffed at the price and what good value it is. Don't know what to do. Here's the dress - any suggestions?

ETA: so the amazing people in the shop have suggested turning the above into this - I'm so excited. Finally got that wow factor feeling!!!!

I think its really pretty, lovely neck line but if you're not happy its a major part of the day? How about go try some others on it might convince you yours is perfect???

It is a lovely dress and it looks lovely on you. I particularly like the neckline, and it gives you a lovely shape.

Have you has it altered/taken in etc? I only ask as it looks a little big on you, and once taken in may look even better.

Fittings start in about two weeks. i am hoping that helps. i'm afraid of trying on other dresses in case i decide that's it not what i want and then i don't have the time or money to do anything about it. it is a very pretty dress, but i'm not sure if pretty is the way i want to go. oh i don't know! Smiley sad

I also think it's a very pretty dress, and it's a very flattering shape. If you really can't see yourself walking down the aisle in it, have a look around and try some different shapes. Maybe once you've seen how you look in other shapes, you will see how much this one suits you. Really it does Smiley smile

Only you know how you want to look to walk down the aisle, if it will put your mind at rest( or not!) go and try on some other dresses. You will probably need to make sure they are sample dresses as you only have 2 months left and most designers take between 4-9 months to order the original dresses in.

I think once you do that you will realise how lovely your NOW dress is, it really suits you!

Sorry that you're having dress wobbles. It is a lovely dress and it does give you a lovely shape however if you don't love it then I'd see if I can get it altered as if you're not happy with it now, you won't be happy on the day and at least you've got wobbles with 2 months to go rather than 2 hours so still got some time - a professional will be able to tell you what they can "tweak" on the dress.

I personally think that the neck line is nice - are you having your hair up and having a veil plus jewelry etc? As those things will change the look of the dress and will show off the neckline more.

I think the dress is lovely and you look great in it, but it's you that has to feel great in it. What else do you think you might want? Could you add a brooch at the waist, on the side for a bit of sparkle if that's the sort of thing that would make you feel happier in it?

Ya, having my hair up with a side bun and got a fab tiara from glitzy secrets. you can't see it too well but the shoulders are actually lace and there's beautiful lace detailing on the back of the dress. I might take it to the shop where it's being altered and try some more of their stock on. maybe then if I figure out that there's a certain part of it that I don't like or style I would prefer they might be able to do something with it, as you've suggested MrsJones2Be

I agree with the rest, the neckline is lovely and the shape looks great, although I think it could be taken in. Is there anything you can do to personalise it and make it feel more yours? E.g. adding some colour with a bow, or some sort of embellishment - I am not very creative but I'm sure you could get some ideas!

That dress is lovely - and the dress shop can alter your current dress to make it look like the one you tried on in the shop? So glad you feel more excited!
