Make me beautiful!!

chicken82, 16 February, 2009 at 12:31 Posted on Planning 0 9

Ok, i have always been useless at makeup and taking care of my skin etc, so i need some tips or ideas so that if i start now i might look ok by the wedding! Im not one of those people with a huge makeup bag, and i dont have a cupboard full of lotions and potions either.

Ive read about a foundation by revlon called beyond natural skin matching makeup which sounds good - has anyone tried it?

Also heard about something called chinny chin thin which is costly, but might be worth it if it works - has anyone used it?

What else should i be doing - moisturising, exfoliating, anything else? or any products to recomend me?

Finally, i hate the backs of my arms, they are kind of corned beefy in colour and rough and yukky blotchy etc, any ideas to fix it?

Whats your beauty regime to get ready for the big day?

I dont use tons of things, but all i will say, is dont suddenly start using drastically different things, as you may break out etc. not sure when you get married, but if its in next 3 months, i wouldnt risk using new things, as you dont know how your skin will react. Drink plenty of water, that helps me.

Sorry, no advice but just wanted to say i'm like you in the sense that i dont really have any sort of skincare routine (babywipes and a bit of moisturiser is the extent of it!!) and my make up bag is tiny... i only ever wear a bit of foundation/bronzer and that's it really. So i'll be watching this thread for tips/advice as i think i really need to start doing something more in preparation for the big day!

As far as my body goes I use St Ives Apricot body scrub Invigorating, its about £3.50. I have also used their blemish fighting face scrub but recently treated myself to the boots no 7 microdermwhatsit after someone recommended it on here recently.

I have a Garneir face scrub/wash/mask stuff which I like too and I also treated myself to a No7 hydrating moisturiser as my nose dries out and i get flaky skin.

I'm having a make up trial to see what its like but after using a No7 foundation and finding it too orange for my porcelian skin I've gone back to my faithful rimmel. Now have a homeless no 7 foundation only 6 weeks old!

Might treat myself to a profesh facial in the easter break though......

Oh I am a product junkie - buy loads of stuff (all pretty packaging) use it once then add it to my ever growing box of goodies never to be used again.

I get by on this lot:

Bliss face wash (same make as the thinny chin chin) - I really like their products good website too

palmolive or some similar shower gel

fake bake exfoliator put on with some glove things from boots - feels awful doing it! i get bumpy upper arms so use this about twice a week

cocoa butter body lotion - lather it on daily good for dry skin and stretch marks

    bliss moisturiser

    make-up:

It ranges from benefit, bare essentuals and YSL.

all come about from going into the shops and getting make up done by the staff. I have usually gone in during the week or late in the day when its quieter and they are happy to help. ask for some free samples you can try at home instead of having to buy loads. Even if i don't buy they are good and giving tips on what will suit you.

If I want to fake tan I use fake bake - not the sunbed. oh and a bit of bronzer for a nice glow

drink loads of water and moisturise and your half way there x

Lots of water, lots of fruit and veg, minimise booze and junk food. You'll be surprised how much this helps with a little time!

Hi - I agree with an ealier post, if you're getting wed in a few months I'd avoid changing your routine now as can take a few months for your skin to settle into any new product. I've been using Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanse and Polish and her facial toner for the past 4 months and it's been brilliant (and not too expensive) topped up with an Elemis Moisturiser 9which is expensive but worth it). I would say though that you need to ensure you are taking off any make-up everty night properly, drink lot's of water and eat well....easy!!

Not sure how long you have before the wedding but I would suggest you start the following routine at the latest 2 months before the wedding:

Cleanse, Tone & Moisturise(day cream and separate night cream, including eye creams) twice a day.

    Exfoliate (normal/oily skin) - once a week

    or

    Mask (normal/dry skin) - once a week

Treatment - serum etc daily usually under day cream.

Use products from the same range - they are designed to work together and you will get the best out of them. Also make sure they are the ones for your skin type i.e. normal, oily, combination etc. You will notice a difference after a few weeks - it takes adult skin about 21-28 days to renew itself. Don't panic if you get a break-out of spots/blemishes, this is your skin having a clear out and getting used to new products.

I personally would recommend Virgin Vie products.

I have similar problems. This is not a long term fix, for obvious reasons, but I wanted them looking good for my wedding, especially as I was wearing a strapless dress, so I had a three minute sunbed twice a week in the 6 weeks before the wedding and it sorted them out nicely.

As for the rest of it, I started having monthly facials in the January before our August wedding. I went to Heaven V and highly recommend the ESPA products. Although I'm not having facials at the salon anymore (£££) I am still using the products.

I use the Liz Earl Hot cloth Cleanse and Polish and it really is just the nice feeling.

Also cant recommend Mac make-up enough. It is by far the best. I love there cream blushers more than live itself!

I exfoliate the backs of my arms. I find that sorts them out!

Oh and if you don't wear loads of makeup normally, personally I wouldn't plaster myself with it on the day! You still want to look like you!

And you look lovely in your avatar - nothing to worry about!
