Make Up

fizzypop, 26 April, 2011 at 20:42 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi, I have had a quote from a make up artist, £85 for me, £40 for BMs. She's offering a free trial for us all too to se if we like it.

Is that a good price? What is everyone else doing?

Maybe depends where you are in the country.

I've been quoted £125 in total for me and 4 bridesmaids. My friend is getting married in 3 weeks and she has a lovely lady who was £195 for her and 3 bridesmaids. Neither include travel costs or any extras though although we both get the bride's trial before (bridesmaids just get what they're given on the day - hee hee).

Spells2B ... have you tried www.helenarchermakeup.co.uk - I am using her and she is based in Leeds, but is travelling for me. Just googled it and got the following who also cover your area:

    www.annabelbailey.co.uk

    www.laurensally.co.uk

    www.facebook.com/pages/Helen-Guy-Hair-Make-Up-Artist/333045745672?sk=info

    Hope that helps!

I think thats a very reasonable price! I couldn't find one under £100 near me. I'm doing my own and my BM's, as I'd rather spend the money on something else.

My daughter had problems too finding one in West Yorkshire - there seems to be a shortage! Most of the ones she had trials with she didn't like as they insisted on giving her the natural look which is just not her at all. She's very much like me in that she likes to wear makeup and wears it everyday so 'natural' look doesn't suit us as we don't look as if we have any on at all. She got married in Holmfirth and after much searching and trials ended up with someone from Selfridges in Manchester who was happy to travel to Holmfirth on the day. She was very good and gave her the 'edgy' look that she was after. The company she had were Illuminesque if that helps. They do a lot of stage make up too so don't be too put off by their website!

Sounds like I'm getting a good deal then! This lady did two of my friends weddings too and is a friend of my future MIL so I think I should book a trial and see how I go x
