Make up

Claire'sweddingxx, 5 July, 2016 at 21:06 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi ladies! Can you give me an idea for what you are paying/consider to be a decent price for bridal make up? I've been quoted £150 on the day and £85 for a trial, which feels like a lot! She is good though, just wanted to do some research before booking xxxx

I paid £65 for my trial and will pay £75 for the day. BMs and MOB are £50 each on the day. However, there are various additional costs - I'm having lashes (£12.50), airbrush foundation (£9) and I have to contribute to travel costs so mine is now closer to £120 on the day.

I'm paying £70 for the day, £35 for a trial and £20 travel. Hair is the same (she won't discount for both together), so £105 basic cost for make-up

My trial hair and makeup and on the day are the same price. £50 hair and £40 makeup. Bridesmaid is £36 hair and £40 makeup. Also coming to venue cost of £100 plus mileage I think an extra £30. Eyelashes £6 per person.

Travel costs have bumped it up but she will be travelling from Yorkshire to Manchester. She's been my hairdresser for a while and has done updo's and make up for me before which I've really liked so it takes some of the stress away.

I was just coming on here to ask the exact same question!

I've been quoted £100 for hair and make up including trial and travel costs! She's just starting up again but had fab reviews. Feel like I'm getting a bargain compared to other prices!! Xx

£65 for both. No trial, however, just turn up and hope for the best! Haha!

Ahhhh so definitely sounds like mine is on the more expensive end! She hasn't quoted anything in particular either so assume it's just actual make up?

So my next question, anyone have any recommendations for someone that will travel to south London borderline Kent? I want pretty heavy make up rather than light and natural xxx

Sounds like we live in the same sort of area. I'm using Flame Beauty. She's based near Bluewater but will travel. www.flamebeauty.co.uk

I'm not having my make up super heavy but I am having red lips. She will do whatever you ask for. She has a FB page if you want to check out her wedding makeup.

I'm having my hair and my make up done by the same lady- I had my trial and that was £75.

Then on the day, my hair & make-up (airbrush) will be £130 and my one bridesmaid will be £35 (As she's just having her hair done.

These were about the average prices for my area.

My MUA is charging £35 for make up per person which includes strip lashes and then £15 for travel. My hairdresser is charging £215 for me, MOB, MOG and four bridesmaids. Trials with the MUA are £30 and trials with the hairdresser are £20. I found both on FB local pages x

    Hi Claire,

Prices do seem to vary a lot but at the end of the day it is important that you are happy with your chosen MUA and Hairdresser and that they fit within your budget. I am a MUA and will always try to accommodate my brides budget by offering a discount if it is a group booking as I really want my Bride to be happy on the day.

My website address is lucy-jones.co.uk if that helps to give you an idea of costs? If you have found somebody you are really happy with you could ask her if she would consider offering a discount?

In terms of make up for the day it is always down to the brides preferred look and what they have in mind. I will always advice a trial so you then know what to expect on the day. To me, this is such an important part of your day and will create the memories so you need to feel relaxed and confident in your chosen professionals.

I hope this has been of some help.

    Lucy Jones

    Hi,

Prices vary a lot between MUA depending on experience, brands/products used and location.

I'm based in the West Midlands and have over 11 years experience and my costs are:

Bride: trial £40 and on the day £60.

Bridesmaid: trial £30 and on the day £40.

Mother of bride/groom: trial £30 and on the day £40.

I also charge petrol if I'm travelling over a certain distance.

Airbrush makeup is an additional £10 to the above costs.

Hope this helps in giving you an idea.

    Aimee x
