Make up and hair

Purple Pixie, 19 October, 2010 at 11:45 Posted on Planning 0 18

Could you kind ladies give me some idea how much you're paying for hair and make up?

And any recommendations for people who will travel to Sutton Coldfield would be much appreciated.

Thank you x

Trickers, my love, were they local (ie Reading) types? Am struggling to find someone out that way and would desperately love a recommendation.

We've actually been quite shocked at how ridiculously expensive all this stuff is. It seems to be just another overpriced wedding expense that people can get away with?

This isn't going to be much help, but......

I'm paying 650,00 IDR for the trial and 1,200,000 IDR on the day. It works out at about £47 for the trial and £85 on the day - that's for both hair and makeup. The people that my planners recommended wanted £90 for the trial and £120 on the day (again, for both hair and makeup). I thought that was quite expensive, but it looks like it was pretty fair having read this thread. Ooops!

Luckily I have two friends who will be helping me get ready. One is a make up artist (for films and tv) and the other is a hairdresser and they're making me look bootiful for free!

I would quite happily pay that amount for a hairdresser and make up artist if I had to - I want to feel pampered on my wedding day and I want to look at my best.

I thought that. One hair & make-up artist whose price list I looked at was quoting £80 for special occasion hair and make up, but then £180 for bridal not including trial! I simply can't understand £100 mark up just because its for a wedding!

I think my b2b looks her best without makeup actually - she doesn't wear it much anyway except for special occasions and even then it might only be a bit of eyeshadow and lipstick.

I am paying £290 for my make up trial and make up on the day, make up and hair trial for my 2 BMs and make up and hair on the day and my mums make up trial and on the day. I will have one make up artist and one hairdresser for a whole day so i think it is pretty good value for money. I got bigger and bigger discounts the more people I added in.
