make up and hair stylist prices

broomfield2b, 2 December, 2010 at 10:32 Posted on Planning 0 16

Hi ladies

just wondered if you all be so kind as to give me a insight into costing for hair and makeup stylists?

I had a quote for make up one @ £400.00!! that is for me my mum and 6 bms lol, Another one at £150.00 Just for me!!!! and then £60.00 pp after that

and then another at a £190.00 for all eight of us!. There will be two of them as there so many Which is amazing, but seems such a massive difference, will I be loosing out on quality?

Not started on hair yet, so wondered if you all give me a insigh as to what you paid etc and what you paid for make up artist on the day?

thanks ladies xxxx

I'm researching this at the moment! I have had various prices but it really does depend on what ur looking for. Either a professional make up artist or beautician? Bridal hair specialist or a hairdresser? That seems to be the difference in price. Also what brand of make up you want (if any preference) and whether you want it airbrushed on or normally applied.

I have had quotes for make up from £30-£200 just for me.

Hair from £12-£200 just for me.

Its a bit of a minefield. I think i had decided to go for a hairdresser in my local town who also offers a bridal service. She charges £35 per hour at home or £20-30 per person in the salon.

I am thinking of booking my local Bare mineral beutician who charges £45 for make up including a trial.

    Hey venue twin!

im doing my own make up but with regards to hairdressers, i spoke to the wedding hair lady at my salon who quoted me £60 for me and £40 for each bmaid which totaled £150, but the for her to leave the salon in city centre and come to the venue, she quoted an additional £150!

apparently salon charge a bit more as they are leaving the salon for a few hours (even tho they are still with a client!)

Fiona gave me a contact but that is a salon, ive found a couple who are a lot more reasonably priced, my list is at home so can post details later!

PS, went for lunch at venue a couple of weeks ago with my brother and his family, they loved it and we went to speak to the chef last week about our menu!!

I'm looking into this at the moment too. I've just been quoted £250 for someone to travel to my venue (on a Sunday) and do hair and make up for me, 2 bridesmaids and my mam. Sounded pretty fair to me! I was quoted over £100 just to do my hair somewhere else x

I'm paying £200 for my hair and makeup combined, and that's just for me but including a trial of both. It seemed to be fairly reasonable compared to some of the prices I came across.

Im £25 for half up , curled etc do, bridesmaids are £20 - £30 for blow drys..make up is £30 each. But thats going to the salons, no home visits. One of bridesmaids is beautician so she'll do my nails day before & i'll do own tan, do it every week anyway...

Make up artist are specialist at applying make up and do not offer any other services. Beutitions normally are a jack of many trades ie facials, make up, massage etc, not quite so specialist. Beautitions are normally cheaper.

I thought that was quite reasonable as there are so many of you and then saw the lol after it. Remember that often you get a trial in the prices as well.

I am paying £436 for my mum's make up and then my mine and my 2 BMs hair and make up.

Yea I didnt think it was to bad for £400.00 for Eight people. but then she said normally a bridge would cost £200.00, which is rather steep I think

all these prices are for make up artists, not beauticians and only for the make up not any hair doos at all btw xxxx

I have just booked mine! I found a make-up artist that works with a bridal hair specialist and they charge £50 each for the trial (in salon) and £75 each on the day (at home or venue). I chose them in particular though because they will do upto 6 different hairstyles on the trial and give you photos of all angles of each (aswell as the make up) for you to take away and look at next to your dress etc. As they work together they work out all the timings for your day so things won't be rushed and will work round each other rather than you having to book an hour for hair and then an hour for make up like you would have to if you booked them separately. They also stay until you leave for for your venue/ceremony in case you need help with dressing which I think is great as I have no aldult bridesmaids to help lace up my dress. All in all I think it is a fantastic service for £250!
