Professional for me. They would know more about how to get it right for photographs, and I don't want to look over or underdone!

I did my own but would now hire a professional, especially as I see what they can do!

I'm doing it myself, went to a benifit counter, had my make up done, got her to write it all down and then got it all for my birthday and now kust pratice every now and then. There is a post on here from a TOG that says the thing about professional make up artists knowing the right stuff to use is a mith, it makes no difference if you do it yourself or pay someone to do it when it comes to pictures

I had a professional for a variety of reasons.

    1) They know what they are doing in terms of getting the right level of coverage for photo's.

    2) They know how to get the makeup to stay on and looking good for 12+ hours.

    3) I didn't want to risk getting myself all flustered if it didn't go right on the day.

We shopped around and found a lovely lady at a really good price, she did a brilliant job and it was well worth every penny!

Professional for me because i don't normally wear any, and want my skin to look good for the photography, esp when photographer is using the flash..

Pro for the bride and mum. On many occasions it seems the rest do it themselves.

First wedding, 10yrs ago, DIY after going to the Estee Lauder counter for a trial and buying the products. Pro make up wasn't as popular back then. Anyway, make up looked amazing until the evening, but later shots show it had definitely slipped and my face looked quite tired and gaunt by the end.

This time round - professional. Actually cheaper (in UK) than buying a load of new products. Didn't bother with a trial since I can't see the point - a good MUA will be able to listen to the "look" you say you want and work along those lines. Anyway, my makeup for my UK party stayed all night, and looked lovely. For the actual wedding I also went pro and although close up I think the makeup was a little heavy, it needed to be to look right in photos and not get greasy in the hot weather.

No regrets with either MUA this time.

I'm doing it myself - I don't really like the idea of not being in control of how I look. I had a 'makeover' done just to see how it would look and it was horrendous, might have looked nice but didn't look like me at all. So I shopped about for some good products and practice every now and again Smiley smile xx

I'm going to do my own. My skin is very temperamental so I don't want to risk reacting to her products. Also I don't often wear much more than foundation and eye makeup so I wouldn't feel like me

DIY at the mo, this may change tho!

If the budget allows I may consider having it done but I am happy to do my own.

Professional for me and my bridesmaids. She put on more make up than I usually wear but it looked great in the photos, and stayed put all day.

I was a bridesmaid for a friend and I did my own make up, my hands were shaking so much with excitement that I struggled to put my eyeliner on!

I had a pro for both hair and makeup. Had the mac airbrush makeup, was fab and stayed put all day, even in the ibiza sunshine.

Mine was £20 for make-up, coming to my house. Same lady did my hair for £35, so £55 total for both.

On Zanzibar I had 2 ladies, and cost was $180

I'm going DIY and have treated myself to new makeup. To be honest, I have average skin, so I don't wear much every day other than blusher and a bit of eyeshadow/liner. To be fully made up is nice, but it's not 'me' and I hate feeling caked in stuff. I just want a subtle glow on the day. It's all very expensive and to me, not worth it. All eyes will be on dress and my smile. Well, I hope!

Although I wear make up every day I can only do the basics, I am a dunce. I wouldn't do my makeup but I am going to have a make up lesson soon. I'm doing it for me in general but if I then feel confidant enough for the wedding I'll do my own. It isn't a cost saving plan! I want to know what I'm doing with make up.
