Make up for oily skin....

mariclare, 15 June, 2010 at 18:11 Posted on Planning 0 9

My skin is quite oily, i think make up may just slide off on the wedding day specially if its hot. I don't want to look all shiney and yuk, has any one used mattifying base or foundation or does any one have any other ideas how not to look like a packet of lard has been spread on my face?

Mine can be a bit combination. Im an october bride though so "heat" might not be a problem for the shiney make-up! Have you tried going for a benefit/mac trial. if you get a list of the products they used, you could go on out for the day...preferably a warm 1 - and see how it goes...or stays as the case may be!! Think il keep a wee bit a powder and a brush in the room for a wee touch-up if need be!!

If i was working on you i would use OC8 mattifying moisturiser (www.oc8.co.uk) on any areas prone to oil.

I would then use Chanel Matt Lumiere Foundation - it's oil free but goes on like a dream and looks so natural on the skin. It only needs to be set with a tiny amount of powder.

I would then spritz the face with Makeup Forever Mist and Fix - this is a setting spray that will literally glue the makeup to the skin. (www.gurumakeupemporium.co.uk)

I would then use blotting papers from superdrug (about £2 a book) if any shine appeared during the day.

    Hi,

I cannot recommend highly enough bare minerals make up!!!! I brought some 2 months ago and havent looked back since. Its best foundation ever! I have suffered with quite bad acne and oilness. This make up has actually assisted in clearing up spots and never goes shiny!

It's quite pricey, i purchased a starter kit which includes 2 colours of foundation, mineral veil, bronzer, concealer, all brushes, dvd for £40 (i have only used about 1/4 of pots so far). I strongly recommend finding ur local counter and having trial (free). Also, i'm absolutly rubbish with make up and i find this really easy to apply ( i had a powder foundation phobia previously!).

I wear it to work and it stays put for all 11hours. I'm in love with this make up at moment!!!!!!!!!! They do a primer base too for oily skin which is good but i found the make up alone was enough for me.

    Hope this helps

Hi - I have oily skin and use Revlon ColourStay. It works really well and isn't too expensive at about £10 ish.

    Hope that helps

I have been battling with oily acne prone skin for years, and couldn't wear foundation for several years as it always made me break out. A friend then recommended Bare Escentuals mineral makeup, and I've never looked back! At the time, you could only order it from the US, but now it's available in Debenhams and other department stores. I use the foundation, which is a powder but looks like a cream when on. I also use the Mineral Veil over the top, and reapply that at around lunch time to prevent shine. My skin does not react badly at all to it, and I can easily wear it all day. High recommend it ?

Also worth having a look online once you know which colour suits you, as it can often be ordered online for a cheaper price ?
