Make up - hibs - anyone!!!

misskd, 23 May, 2008 at 07:10 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi I know I don't post on here very often, but I wonder if anyone can help me....

I need some make up recomendations. My skin is very dry and sensitive, I know this is a compliant many people have but my skin is REALLY dry. I moisturize before I put foundation on and within a few hours there are horrible dry patches of foundation (without the foundation you wouldn't see the dry patches iyswim). I have a clinique foundation at the moment. I also have eczema so my skin can be quite red some times.

Should I try a different foundation?

Does anyone know anything about mineral make up? Would this suit me better?

Thanks everyone Em

I would recommend you use a cleanser and toner as well as your moisturiser and one that is designed for dry/sensitive skin. Also are you using a liquid foundation? If not then might be worth trying one again for dry skin. Do you leave your moisturiser for a few minutes before applying foundation? You should leave it at least 5 mins.

If you want to see what products we have then either email me - ******.*********@********.*** or have a look at www.myvirginvieathome.co.uk/sharonspink

If you contact me direct I can also let you know about any offers we have on at the moment, some of which aren't available online.

Hi i can suggest a few things.

The first is to invest in a hydrating primer - this will smooth and hydrate your skin and lock your base in place all day.

The best one is by Laura Mercier - Hydrating Primer (Space NK).

Apply this all over your face once your moisturiser has sunk in.

Then apply your eyemakeup so the primer has got time to sink in.

Then once your eyes are done apply your foundation - with a foundation brush if possible. The best foundation by far for very hydrated skin is Chanel Vitalumiere - it give a beautiful dewy glow to dry skin. Set it with a tiny sweep of loose powder just on the tzone.

If you follow these steps then i guarantee your skin will look fantastic!

I am not sure about the perfume issue.

I use the LM primers on 100's of faces a year and have never had anyone have an allergy to them.

Make sure that you give the primer plenty of time to sink in before you apply the foundation (do your eyes first). If you don't the foundation may just 'slide' about.

Let me know how you get on.

I wish I had thought to look on flee bay!! Never mind have paid full price £27 I think!

    Thanks for all you help.

I quite fancy trying the mineral make up, but it looks as though most of it is powdery so therefore probably to dry for my skin? Don't know if anyone has any experience with it?

    Hi

If you suffer from Eczema or have really dry skin, avoid powders! As they will only emphasise your dry skin, give you a cakey look. If you want to use Mineral make up, some cosmetic houses do make mineral liquid foundation.

MAC has done so... here is the link: http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk/templates/products/sp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT4723&PRODUCT_ID=PROD73779

It is satin finish and suitable for dry skin.

    Hope that helps!
