Make Up Proficient Ladies of OT........

celticgoddess, 26 April, 2012 at 17:32 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

I normally never wear make up unless going out (which is never!). For our post wedding party thingy on Saturday my make up artist was already booked so I have to do it myself. She recommended Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation (she uses Mac but I didnt want to spend a fortune if I look like a dog's dinner!) so Ive bought it in 'Ivory' for my very pale skin. Its been so long since I put on foundation myself I dont know how!

Ladies help me!!!

I put mine on with fingers, just gently blend all over face starting in the middle and working outwards. Then I finish with a brush in short downward strokes. This makes the little hairs on your face "line up" in one direction and makes for a better finish.

Are you ok with doing your make up yourself? I know you've already bought your foundation, but if it's an option Mac in Frasers do Make-overs for £20 which you could use like a make up artist. The £20 is then redeemable on products so you could get the lipgloss etc. to touch up.

In answer to your foundation question though, fingers are best tool if a foundation brush isn't available. Make sure your skin is moisturised and then add primer if you have one, then smooth on a little at a time all over, then go over again any areas that need extra coverage. Then use concealer where needed!

Gutted I'm busy on Saturday or I could have nipped out and done it for you chick as a wedding gift ☹️

A makeup artist recommended Rimmel foundation really? I would have suggested a mineral powder foundation for someone who didn't normally wear makeup. Purely because it's easy to apply, can look minimal and build able if you need more coverage in places.

    Step away from the Rimmel!

Even if you scrimp on the rest of your makeup make sure your base/foundation looks right.

Liquid, i use a foundation brush and/or buffer brush, with fingers. Depending on the texture of the liquid i sometimes use a blending sponge like this

She recommended it because she knew I didnt want to spend too much on it and in her opinion this is one of the good budget buys.

I just use my fingers and blend outwards. Then use a loose translucent powder/bronzer on top.
