Make-up

Sweeties, 18 September, 2016 at 18:40 Posted on Planning 0 14

I've been toying with the idea of having someone come and do my makeup on the day.

Well today there was a wedding fayre on, so I popped along and talked to a few makeup artists.

The first stand I went to, well completely unorganised. Main person had popped for a cuppa (place had only been open 20 mins max!), and the assistant couldn't find any prices, and couldn't really remember anything wedding related. Helpful for a wedding fayre.

Second stand I went to, well they were all really friendly, and actually knew the prices lol

They also offered a free make over, a sample using normal makeup to give me an idea of how I might look, without using the actual longer lasting, blast it off with a blow torch stuff.

I was really happy with the outcome. I stood under some super bright lights and took pics, stood outside and took pics.

I then went back inside and popped to the first stand again, hoping to speak to the main person. The lady was there this time, but was flapping about with some A4 pad. Another lady was waiting to speak to her, so I spoke to the same assistant as before and asked if they were doing any free make overs (they did have some chairs set out). The assistant asked the main lady, who very quickly looked at me, and barked 15 minutes. I smiled nicely, nodded and backed away.... the other lady, was still waiting to speak to her... safe to say I didn't bother going back.

But I did go back to the second stand and I have provisionally booked the, for a proper makeup trial, and hair and makeup on the day.

They were so friendly.

Now for the funny bit... assuming you've made it this far.

Posted some pics on Instagram, like you do... did my food shop... went home and the other half saw me... first thing he said... what's that on your face? you look a bit like an old slapper! I had to howled with laughter..? Oh and then followed it up with... makes you look loads older.

Soooooo still going to go ahead with the trial, going to ask them to maybe not do my eyeliner to heavy, cos to be honest that's the only bit I could see that might have made me look older and slappery?!?! Bloody men!

Sat typing this, makeup free!?

Haha!! Love it! Maybe they can use a lighter weight foundation next time if you don't usually wear a lot of make up.

My OH didn't notice after I had my hair trial even though my hair was curly and it's always completely straight!

Men! I second the idea of asking for lighter make up for the trial. I'm sure you didn't look old or like a slapper xx

    Men!!

It was probably just a shock to his system - mine practically faints when I brush my hair these days Smiley winking

Maybe ask for a lighter foundation and to go easy on the blusher - I find that can make you look a little overdone.

Unless you'd like to share pics so we can take a good look? Smiley smile

Loving loving the not noticing going to curly hair.

Says it all about our men doesn't it lol

I didn't think the foundation was a bad match to be fair, seeing at it was a quick free trial... not perfect... def more blusher than usual.. but I do wear it every day... Maybe was eyes and eyebrows... men!

I might try to work out how to upload a pic and show you all my old slapper face...lmao!

    Be kind!! ?

Honestly I think you look stunning. It was probably the eyebrows for him if you don't normally do them. My OH always comments when I can be bothered doing mine xx

    Hello,

I actually think you look very nice and its always out of place when you have your makeup trial but are in your casual clothes. Once you've had your hair done and are in your dress on the day, I think the make up would look great.

    Good Luck

Jesus he should come to Liverpool, he would die of shock the amount of makeup people have piled on. I think you look natural but polished. I agree the brows could be a little softer maybe a lighter colour and also some clear brow gel to give them more a natural but structured look. Also ask the makeup artist to soften and difuse the liner with an eyeshadow, I find that the sharpness of just plain eyeliner is aging and a little severe. Maybe less contour if that's not something you do and a creamier lipstick or a gloss ontop. You certainty don't look like an old slapper by any means I think your skin looks radiant and smooth. Oh and brown not black eyeliner is much more flattering and less harsh by miles than black, especially as your fair and it help bring out your eyes even more.

Bare in mind the camera washes you out as well. I do Makeup for a living and I remember when studying and practicing makeup for photography and you literally had to pile it on to actually see it show up on camera. Thats the reason why the Katrashians have so heavy makeup in real life because they always been photographed. I like to go for an inbetween look for brides, as you also want to look natural and lovely in the day light and real life. Maybe have a look at a few different pictures on the internet you like and show your husband and see what parts he does and doesn't like.

    Thanks RachD90

Yes I'd agree with softer lighter eyes and brow.

    I really liked the contouring.

I've now booked in for a proper trial.

    Thanks for all your comments

I think your make up looks lovely. I suppose it depends on what you're used to wearing normally and what your h2b is used to seeing you wear normally too, but I would certainly say it's a fab bridal look!
