Make-Up dilemma

MrsP:), 28 December, 2013 at 22:44 Posted on Planning 0 2

So basically I need a little help on whether to go DIY or get a make-up artist. I know that as I qualified as a make-up artist a while ago (although never took it any further) that I could easily do my own make-up. I have changed up my make-up routine as my skin has changed and I feel like I make good choices with make-up and don't just buy whatever is cheapest etc. I put a lot of thought in to what make-up products I buy and can easily achieve a nice simple, radiant make-up look suitable for a bride. However, I am worried about two of my bridesmaids doing their own make-up and I don't really want to be doing their make-up on the day.

I have three bridesmaids in total and one of them doesn't wear much make-up and when she does always does something simple that really suits her which is perfect! The other two are a different storey, one wears the wrong kind of foundation for her skin so it looks a tad orange toned and slips off during the day causing it to go patchy and she also wears a huge amount of eye-liner that slips down in to the creases of her eyes during the day and just wouldn't be appropriate. The last bridesmaid is slightly younger and does a decent job of her own make-up but has a tendency to go a bit mad filling in her eyebrows etc. I know I sound like a crazy lady but I am really worried about what these two will do with their make-up on the day.

I could get a make-up artist for all of us and just pay the huge bill, but then I am worried that they wont do as good as job as I do my own make-up :/. If I got a make-up artist just for the bridesmaids that would be a bit weird too!

I'm just hoping that out there is someone who reads all these crazy hitched posts like me and has a wonderful solution for me!

Thanks for any help in advance!

Just get a makeup artist for the bm's and do your own. It's not weird at all and I think that will give you most peace of mind. You may find that some artists won't take a booking without doing the bride but if you shop around I'm sure you'll find someone.

Make it a treat for them - "I've booked this for you so you all feel pampered on the day'..... And just say you're doing your own as you want o out your training into practice. Sorted.

I'm in a similar position to you and have you thought about getting together and doing their make up to show them what you like and then asking them to do their own? You could do half a face and they could do the other half as a trial? It might not work but if it did it could save you a lot of money.

make up counters also do make up lessons for pretty cheap or free. MAC do lessons for £30 that's redeemable against purchase so you could get them a new foundation, blusher and lipstick for a lot cheaper than the cost of a make up artist.

Although I'm no professional I'm confident doing my makeup and I know that I can have as many at home trials as I like whereas with an artist you book and then only get one trial before the big day.

    i hope these ideas help
