makeup experts needed!

amihohu, 19 February, 2013 at 13:02 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hey all,

So I need some makeup knowledgeable people! I have terribly oily skin and am wondering what to do about my makeup for the big day. There are a couple of makeup artists in my home town which both use airbrushes. One uses 'Airbase' and the other says they use MAC. My question is, has anyone with oily skin had experience with either of these? Or would I be better off without airbrushing? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    Hi,

I would recommend Cleanse and Polish from Liz Earle to tackle the oil and their moisturiser and toner. Then Bare minerals makeup gives a natural and flawless finish. You can get samples and have a trial at John Lewis stores.

Give airbrushing a try, it can be good for people with oily skin. Personally I'm not a fan of mac foundations at all, I've never got on with them. If you're going down the regular foundation route, Dior Forever is great for oily skin. Use an oil free matti flying primer underneath, something like Laura Mercier oil free or YSL matte touch.

    Ditto what Rochelle said.

I do airbrushing and it is good for oily skin so worth a try.

If not then Clinique Stay Matte, Estee Lauder Double Wear as well as Dior Forever are all good. I use YSL Matt Touch for the primer. I really don't like MAC foundations either I find them too heavy.

I have mostly combination skin but at that time of the month it can be like an oil slick! When its oliy I use No7 Stay Matte primer then MAC Face and Body foundation and it lasts all day and night! I never thought I'd find anything so good. Usually I'd use Clinique Superbalanced which is also a great foundation, it offers more coverage and seems to even out my combination skin.

I'm pretty much decided on doing my own make-up on the day but I do really fancy trying out the airbrush make up so I may even look into it later on (if there's any money left!!)

I have oily skin and 2 years ago i had airbrush makeup applied to me so i could decide whether to add it to my kit or not. I hated it! My skin felt dirty within a couple of hours and went very shiny.

I agree with Aimee and Rochelle about Mac bases - i don't have any in my kit. I would also recommend Dior Forever foundation with Mac Prep and Prime SPF50 primer underneath to keep shine at bay.

I'd also recommend Shu Uemura Colourless Loose powder - this is great for oily skin as it's totally colourless so will not oxidise on your skin if any oil does come through - some powders when they oxidise go orange - which isn't a good look!
