Make-up help!

honeybee9, 11 January, 2012 at 15:03 Posted on Planning 0 9

I'm having such a nightmare trying to find foundation that is 1 the right colour and 2 doesn't cause the "ghosting" effect when photographer! So far I've tried Dior, Chanel, Estee Lauder, Yves saint laurent and clinque. I'm thinking about trying Bare mineral next and wonder if anyone had tried it and if so how did you get on with it?? And does it cause "ghosting" Thanks in advance.

I'm experience it's products with SPF that cause this effect, either that or a product that is too light or contains too many light reflecting pigments. Ensure you are wearing the correct colour that isn't too light for you and one without an SPF, that should make the difference.

Try skin base by www.illamasqua.com. No SPF and it's a beautiful foundation.

I'm glad you've asked this as I was going to ask the very same thing! I was all decided on using a Dior foundation but went into one of the dept stores last week end only to find that they've suddenly started putting SPF in them all. Think I read somewhere that Bobby Brown do nice ones without so am planning a bridal makeover there... Will check out your recommendation as well Rochelle - not familiar with the make though, is it usually in dept stores?

It's a relatively new brand and I think it's sold in some Debenhams and selfridges. You should be ok with Dior forever. I use that on my brides.

Its not necessarily the fact they have SPF in them at all, it depends how much of the titanium dioxide it has in it. Check the ingredients list - if it's close to the top of the list then steer clear but if it says 'may contain' or it's at the bottom of the list of ingredients, you should be ok.

This is an interesting thread, I thought I only had to worry about eye makeup!!! I use mac minerlize foundation and thought I would just use this on the day, but it has SPF 15 not sure if it has the other ingredient though. I'm going for a eye lesson with bare essentials and might ask them a out there foundations too. God it's so complicated!

I've been reading lots on this subject too and quite alot of places swear by MAC foundations or Sephora Make Up Forever HD ... I cant see anywhere that sells the Sephora one but I think Debenhams stocks MAC make up. Thought I might take a trip down there for a make over and see what I think.

Has anyone out there gone to a make up counter on their day and had it done to save costs??? Do they do things like that if you buy their products? ?
