Makeup help request

SunnyBrownCakes91133, 1 November, 2018 at 21:35 Posted on Planning 0 3

Getting married this summer in Gloucestershire.

Not a big make up wearer, normally just eye shadow, liner and mascara and lip gloss.

Zero experience in foundation but prone to break outs when stressed so not confident to do my own in case a spot cover up job is required.

Absolutely hate the 'essex' look for want of a better word i.e. fake tan, massive lashes and lipstick.

All wedding makeup portfolios seem to be 1 of 2 things: either very heavy, neck paler than face, eyelashes and liner too heavy

Or

Practically non existent, but not in a natural radiant glow way, in a 'please tell me you didn't pay £££ for just mascara' way

Any advice for a mid ground makeup artist in the bristol/Cheltenham area?!

I felt the same as you. I’ve ended up booking Annabella brayne - seems like she has a bit more of a mix so won’t just be super heavy or non existent. Haven’t had my trial yet though. She’s Bristol based. Maybe have a look and see if she suits you?

I can't give you a specific recommendation but perhaps it's worth you phoning a couple and speaking with them and, if you have a big event coming up, book one as a trial. A good MUA should be able to work to your brief - the 'Instagram' look is very in these days so perhaps they are posting pictures that they think will get them more business? I'd be tempted to speak with/book one of the more natural artists who should be able to cope with a breakout to get that lovely glow look.

Also worth considering if you are prone to break outs to focus on your skincare in the run up to the big day - I'm investing more time and consideration into the products i'm using in the run up to the day and it's paying dividends already. I'll probably invest in a facial or two nearer the time as well just to get everything in good order.

Hope this helps and good luck! x

Thanks, that's a good point I didn't consider they are specifically appealing to the instagram audience.

Mostly concerned about chest and back, using sanex zero as nervous to start playing with products and aggrevating skin more.
