Make-up trial timings

*Pugsley*, 6 May, 2013 at 20:56 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi Ladies,

I've started thinking about my makeup trial.

I've found someone I want to have it with but I'd also like to have my makeup done when I'll actually get some use out of it.

One of my friends is getting married 6 months before I do and was thinking about having my trial on this day to really test the makeup (all day wear plus photography-wise) but I'm not sure whether this is too far away from my own wedding to have a trial.

What do you all think?

Sounds like a good idea to me, but just think about what time your friend is getting married.
A friend of mine was going to do the same for our wedding, but we had an 11:30 service, and they lived an hour and a half away. Add in the hour (at least) for trial and it got pretty early! Plus the trial will be trying a few things, so you will need longer etc. I think my trial was at least 2 hours by the time we'd discussed what I wanted, the colours etc, she then tried a few things and asked what I liked best. Then tweaked a few bits. ?

I think it is a good idea to have the trial at the same time you'd be having it done on the day. It would be good to get some 'use' out of it, but if the make up artist you are having is good/well known and established the chances are she may already be booked up on the day of your friend's wedding - doing another bride!

If your friend is getting married on a weekend it's highly likely your make up artist will have a wedding that day already. Good idea to have your trial in the morning though to see how it lasts through the day

    Hi,

You can have a trial 6 months before your wedding. Just email your makeup artist and ask her if she is free or not. If she is then bonus at least your making the most of having your makeup done, if not then you will have to re-think another date. I've done a couple of trials for brides who are going to a friends wedding.

If booking so far in advance, you'd need to consider:

    - If you are likely to be more/less tanned during your own wedding

    - If you will have changed your hair colour

    - Make sure the artist is reputable & uses known products that are less likely to be unavailable then

    - Take a few pics of yourself & note down (at the time) what you do/dont like about the look & how it lasted during the day/evening

    - Check that the artist has noted down the colours/brands used
