Making guacamole

POD, 3 May, 2009 at 12:08 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 13

We have people coming around this evening. if I make the guacamole now will the lime juice stop the avocado going brown or will I have to make it later to avoid browness?

Thanks

Lime juice works like lemon juice doesn't it? I am sure that it does!

If making guacamole in advance, leave pits in the dip to prevent it from turning brown. Oxygen is the enemy, so seal tightly with a strong plastic wrap

It's supposed to stop it going brown, but it still seems to get a faint tinge (you can just mix it back in though).

Keep the avacado pit in the bowl you have the guacamole in.

    Simples. *pffft*

I never knew that about the pit. I'll do that and the lime. Thank you.

Sorry I forgot to say I'll keep it in one of those airtight plastic pots and decant it into a bowl later.

    Thanks again

Podlet, are you sure you want to make mexican stylee food? can you cope with a round of 'hilarious never heard before' swine flu jokes that may prompt?
