Making my own centerpieces what do you think? *FLASH*

BridalButterfly2012, 25 January, 2012 at 16:44 Posted on Planning 0 12

I am attempting to make my own centerpiece's here is what i have managed so far. Can i have your honest oppinions please?!

Sorry if the photo's turn out too big.

P.s I am thinking of changing the water beads to clear or even adding pearls or white sand as t think the red on red looks too much. Also will fake flowers disintegrate in water or can they withstand it? Here goes the pics ?

I like the top one best. Its lovely and very unusual. I'd try white/pearls instead just to see.

If it helps I do these arrangements and the roses have fishing wire tied round them and then that is glued to a glass nugget, the ones that are square like ice cubes, We have also used a small mirror in the bases of the vase under the glass nuggets and fishwire tied round the mirror

I think the red beads are to much.

Jules40- what type of glue do you use? Someone else told me to tie fishing wire around the stem and attach it to a washer then hide with the pebbles etc.

I agree that the red beads are just too much. I'm also not keen on the large rose or the petals. Maybe under the water it would look ok, but the large petals on the mirror just look too large. I'd just have the butterflies and more little beads on the mirror, or have a smaller, real rose in the water.

If you use the plastic flowers, submerge one in water overnight & see if it bleeds the colour or falls apart.

Instead of beads in the water, I used a crystal powder that absorbs water and swells. They come in round, bead shapes or ones that look like ice in the jar (just cannot think of the same). I also used a floralyte (a waterpoof light) in the bottom of the vase to add light & interest. All of which I bought off ebay.

Ok, being honest, there's too much going on. I prefer the first one but think the red beads are a bit too much. Also, the flowers look very fake - could you get any 'better' ones? Especially the petals that are scattered.

I don't think you need the butterflys, crystals, petals and leaves.

Yep, I think they'd look a lot better with real flowers. And if you only use one rose per centre piece, it's not going to cost much.

I prefer the vase but I do think less is more. I would scrap all the fussiness on the mirror, you could have 3 tealights instead.

Out of the 2 i prefer the round bowl. I do agree with the others that it has alot going on, and would take out 1 or 2 aspects.

I prefer the bowl and agree with using clear beads and preferably a real or better quality artifical flower submerged. I would keep it simple on the mirror base with just the butterflies if it is your theme or tealights and just use the flower for the red accent, it looks more subtle.
