Making own wedding photo album

Vanilla Pod, 11 June, 2012 at 20:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 14

I thought I would start a new thread on this...

As above really. I have already made a few photo books from photobox which are lovely but I would like an album. Any suggestions where to get a really nice one? Also where prints the best quality photos? Should I get matt finish or is there another type?

We couldn't afford the album package from the tog at the timr of booking so we just got the discs hence I am DIYing. Maybe a few years down the line I'll go back and get the professional one but any tips in the mean time please?

Another DIY'er here, i took my disc to pro photo shop, got them to develop them all, got a lovely black plain album from paperchase, then stuck our photos in them and went around the photos in silver ink so they kinda stick out- i mixed and matched all the crazy/fun/groups shots in the album..

I remember on the gadget show they did a comparison of the photo printing websites and Snapfish came out really well for quality and price. My friend did a book of her honeymoon photos from there and it's lovely Smiley smile

I did my prints at the Kodak machine in the local chemist. Cost me £60 though for 180 copies in 5x7! Still to buy the album but I am searching ebay and amazon for one

Thanks guys.. I want it to look kind of weddingy.. so a pretty/classic album and big prints, the size you would get in a proper wedding album. 1 photo per page. Maybe choose 40 or so of our favourite shots. I'm willing to pay about £100- £150 in all for album plus prints. I'm just not sure on which type of print or which size to order, or where to look for nice albums really?

My sister did a photo album "this is your life" style for her fiance's 30th birthday. Very large album and it is lovely. Plain black with a picture pocket on the front. Really makes the pics stand out. Her's was from Boots. It was a really decent price for the size and quality.

This is what I want to do too VP - we've been married nearly 2 years and I must get on with it!

I got our guest book from ohsocherished - it was gorgeous so I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again - thanks for the reminder Kharv! I really like the leather one, and the jewelled heart type ones, which are a similar style to our guest book.

I've also heard good things about snapfish print quality, I'm not sure if matt or gloss is best though for a 'proper' album - what have other people with wedding albums got?

Yes! Thank you! I am between the "wedding" cream leather one for £99 and the plain cream leather one for the same. I would then get one of the small silver name plates with our name/weding date on. I love that they have tissue paper between each page and come boxed and cloth wrapped, thats exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much! ?

Thanks K. I have actually already got 3 of these. I made them not long after the wedding on photobox. Was inspired by our lovely Mrs C! They are really lovely, but I want a "real" album too. I'm strange I know. Or maybe bored! ?

I haven't seen the albums snapfish do but a few friends have had family photo Christmas cards done through them and I don't rate the print quality of these at all. If you decide to go with any of the book printed style albums if would be worth getting another album (holiday snaps or something) printed with them first so you can check out the quality.

John Lewis would be worth a look for an album, they often have some lovely ones. Or how about somewhere like Paperchase? Hobbycraft would definitely be worth a look too.

Make sure you try to get something which has acid free paper in it and stick in using acid free adhesive. Will help to prolong the life of the photos.
