Making your own cake topper?

tressls, 21 June, 2011 at 20:45 Posted on Planning 0 1

Hi all

Been thinking about cake toppers- wanted a novelty one- love the ones where the bride drags the groom down the aisle etc wants a more personalised one... seem quite pricey though- anyone know how I could go about making my own (no idea what they are made of etc or where to buy the stuff).... ??/

My Mum-in-law knitted our daughter a cake with a topper which got some lovely comments on the day. It was an extra "cake" as a momento from Grandma for them. She bought the pattern and then adapted it to fit their colour scheme etc. They also had a novelty one on their pork pie cake of a Bride with back turned on the Groom who was playing on his X Box:-

The X Box one was bought ready-made off the internet and didn't cost too much.

Or you could have a go at knitting one!
