March 2013 Brides

Chedi, 11 November, 2012 at 13:35 Posted on Planning 0 12

We hit the 4 month to go mark 2 days ago so thought I'd see how you lot are getting on, and if there are any more March brides that have joined recently?

What are you all planning at the moment?

We've booked our 'minimoon' the week after the wedding, and are currently looking into the proper honeymoon in June and looking about for places. I'm liking the idea of the island of Capri, just off Naples in Italy - but we're still being open minded currently.

Apart from that, I've got nothing else weddingy related til December, where on the 1st my younger bridesmaids are having their first dress fittings with our seamstress to try them on with their accessories we've bought - then on the 9th December, the men are getting fitted for their suits too.

Our day invites went out a month ago, and we have had a fair few replies, but still about 2/3's to go - but they've got until January. Evening invites are all made, but we wont send them out until after Christmas (however, those that live further away that couldnt make the day list due to space have already gone this week).

Our main to do's currently are mainly things to buy. I still need to buy my MOH some accessories, and I'm pondering over the shrug for me, if its too cream even though it did state 'ivory'. As OH is renting his suit, I suggested he buy himself a nice pair of quality shoes, as he wears boots for work and doesnt really have a decent pair of shoes at home for going out/special occassions.

Evening we're doing with 2 months notice, as we dont really need to know who's coming to be absolutely honest.

Day is a bit different because their the people you really want to be there, and you need to make sure they're able to get the time off work, have time to get outfits, and generally make sure they dont find themselves busy with something else. Also, caterers will need to know numbers early and we'll need to confirm with venue as well nearer the time - plus, it helps us to think of seating plans before hand! Also, if we get some declines, we can then bump up some evening guests that we couldnt fit before hand (in my case, if we get one decline, my grandads carer will be invited to give my gran some time to relax all day, rather than just evening).

I also think us in March have the awkward bit where usually we'd send out day invites 3-4months before hand, but this clashes with the christmas post, so like us, we did ours in October at 5months!

I'm 17th March, probably more organised than I think but still have a major freak out! Can't quite get everything to tie in together!

I've got my dress and have my first fitting on 1st December after waiting 6 months for it to be made!! Bought the bits for the making of the invites and need to get on with that this weekend, flowergirl dresses are sorted, got the place we are hiring the suits from just waiting for my OH to return from Afghan so we can get on with the next bit with that. Cars are being booked next, photographer all sorted, cake is booked however I am changing the design of it. I haven't managed to get anywhere with bridesmaids dresses yet - difficult colour scheme it would prove.

Pretty sure I have still got loads to do but I keep forgetting major things!

How are you both getting on? xx

Ooh do you think January is too late for my dress fitting? I'm going at the end of January too. She said it should only take a week to sort out though?

What colour are you going for Rachel? I think that was my most stressful bit!

Hehe, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's getting a bit bored with the waiting now. I go though phases of being excited, frustrated, and now I'm a bit bored!

    Hi fellow March 2013 brides!

It's all of a sudden got really close hasn't it?!

Dress is almost paid off, first fitting is January I cannot wait to meet MY dress!

Invites went out in Sept, we have about 1/2 the responses so far. We gave RSVP date of Xmas eve so still a bit of time!

Venue, caterer, cake, bridesmaid dresses, hair, makeup, veil, tiara, shoes, all done!

ooh, have just thought still need lingerie and jewellery too!

Good luck to you all with the rest of ur planning! Xx

Don't worry lumc86 your list is very similar to mine! Infact everything on your list except the cake I still have to do Smiley sad so much to do such little time!

I'm having a peacock colour scheme Chedi (teal and the green near the middle) and the shade of teal that I want seems to be none existant! found a couple of dresses that I really like however one of my bridesmaids has just announced that she is going to be 8months pregnant on the day so having trouble finding a dress that will fit her!

I'm 17th March too!! Smiley smile

I still have loads to do but we only booked in September so I'm not doing too badly. Venue & catering sorted (at the gorgeous Tunnels Beaches in Ilfracombe), TOG booked, brought my dress (just need to find someone to help with alterations now), brought our rings, invitations are out with RSVP date for 14th December (as we didnt want to get lost in the Xmas madness), and most of the room decor is sorted.

Sounds great till I think of all of the things I STILL need to do: cake, band, florist, hair & make up, suits, MOH dress, all my accessories!!!!!! AAAArrrrrggggghhhhh the panic is rising!!!!! Smiley winking x

    Hi everyone,

    23rd March for us and I can't believe it's November already....eek!

I think we're fairly sorted but things left on my list now include

    - wedding band and shoes for the groom

    - accessories and shoes for the bridesmaids but waiting till nearer the time, they are only little and feet keep growing!

    - invitations - we're doing these ourselves but really must get on with it... Planning to send in Jan as we did save the date emails a while back

    - confirm flowers -again we're doing these ourselves for table centres so just ordering them

    - confirm everything else with all our suppliers - it's a DIY wedding so quite a few to confirm, not least our ice cream cart Smiley smile

    - oh, and make loads of paper flowers and birds for decorations!

Probably things I've missed but we keep accumulating more stuff so I'm sure it will all come together thanks to all our friends and family helping out!

? in a way I do wish I still had quite abit to do, I'm just sitting here over thinking things now which isnt good!

Them dresses do sound hard to find colours, no wonder you're struggling. Hopefully when christmas is over with, shops will start their new wedding ranges in so you might get more variety then - but that might be leaving it a bit too much to chance. Peacock does sound lovely though. I beleive gracefly had the same theme so when shes back from honeymoon you should be able to see her report/photos.

Ah thank you so much, I will check hers out!

Are you guys getting married in a church or having a civil cermony? I'm only asking because we have now decided to have the ceremony in a church but had all our songs already picked out so i'm not sure what to do now! do i just play the songs i chose in the church or change completely so it fits in with the organist etc?

We're having a civil ceremony, so honestly havent looked into churches at all. We both knew from the start that didnt appeal. It might be worth checking with your vicar/reverand and see what they'd want as I do beleive they get the final say in things, just like the registrar would do with music for civil ceremonys as well.
