March 2013 brides, how you getting on?

Pink Han-bag, 30 August, 2012 at 11:50 Posted on Planning 0 9

I've been trying to have a productive week after feeling like I've not done anything for ages!

We've got our photographer, cake, hair, flowers, venue dresser, DJ all booked. I've booked an appointment to order my dress for next week, dress is chosen though. Going shopping with my Mum on Monday for her outfit. I've done the wording for the majority of the stationery ready to send to the stationers, some things are missing like the menu as not confirmed.

We had chosen the men's suits but I've heard some bad things about the shop so I think we'll try a different company, going to go in the next couple of weeks.

I've started making wine glass charms for the tables, and my Mum's started on the favours/place names.

Just about to order cake topper.

I'm struggling with shoes, can't find anything I like and still need my veil/tiara etc. Bridesmaid dresses are bought.

What've I forgotten? ?

I'm pretty organised, trying to get as much done as early on as I can!

I have all the big things booked. This week I have had to book a second hairdresser because my first one is just not responding at all!

All of our dresses are now bought, got my shoes and accessories. Clothes wise all I need to get are flower girl shoes and FG/best man gifts. My mum has her outfit and needs to get her hat.

I'm DIYing all of my decor so in the process of making it all with my florist, she has been a great help and is worth her weight in gold! I have bought all the bits for my favours and started the process of putting them together. I've so far got one tables worth of decoration done and have ordered my tree slices, next after the centrepieces are done is bunting. I have bought my seating plan stand and ordered a big seat things for evening guests to be photographed on.

Am in the process of booking hair and make up trials. Have got my ring, OH is dragging his feet. Have bought in stuff to make sweet trees for the kids, need to get some other kids stuff. Have got my guestbook stuff.

Need to get underwear and a dress for the day after. I've mocked up a seating plan but think it will change a few times :/ I need to meet up with my friend who is doing my invites. Thats everything I can think of spilled out of my brain lol!!

Don't you think it's coming around quickly?

Rings! I keep bloody well forgetting the rings! Argh!

My Dad died when I was 11, I have an old signet ring of his that I'm going to take to a jewellers to enquire about getting it melted down to make mine and OH's ring, it's yellow gold though so will need plating as well.

So far we have booked venue, registrar, caterers, bar, band, photographer, and florist. Suit hire we're doing in October. Rings we have designed and my aunt whos making them is ordering the metals. My dress should be arriving end of October, bridesmaids all purchased (will be fitted with mine early 2013). I have my shoes, bridesmaid shoes and the little girls dolly bags. Weve given notice too but need to chose our vows/readings.

We have table centres, our postbox (to be modified), and a few decorations. Also chimnea and massive gazebo too.

We have all the invite stationary, we just need to print and stick lol

Still need to sort jewellery, chose flower arrangements (as in boquets), choose cake flavours and decoration (gran is making), favours too.

    Im sure there is more

Oh not to forget Dad has sorted out cars and busses. and Make up artist and hair is also sorted (just trials to book).

? Most of it got sorted months ago, so we're in that kinda weird stage, where theres nothing to book - but little details from accessories, choosing readings, choosing must have photo shots, having trials etc - thats all too early to really go into.

For our honeymoon, OH's work is really strict/awful with their holiday that they get it sorted it at the end of each year all in one go - so even though they all put in one week they all want then the rest is just hit and miss to whether you get it, we still dont want to book anything yet just incase for some reason he's not allowed the week after. Either way though, we cant afford much so it'll be only local/within UK and then we'll save up for a proper holiday/honeymoon abroad later in the year (I'm hoping he'll get a Sept-October week or two off).

How are you lot getting on with guest lists? I think we've sorted ours, and then suddenly I realise someone I've forgotten - or someone splits with their partner, so I feel like I'm constantly changing it. We're not posting invites for day guests til end of November, so still have time to finalise it - but it's still stressful incase I am forgetting anyone ?

I feel like I did loads when we first got engaged and now have hit a bit of a lull!!

We have sorted; my dress and shoes, bridesmaid dresses and shoes, venue, DJ, florist, photographer, cake and transport.

Going to hopefully sort chair covers and decor tomorrow. Have sent 'save the dates' last week, and am making a start on making invites.

Still need to sort; favours, men's suits, rings, finalise menu, table plan, send invites.

It certainly is coming round quick, so exciting!!

I dont think any of us have to get much done so early - I'm just generally organised and get excited easily to try get 100 things done at once ?

I think photographer should take priority pretty soon if you want a decent (and good priced) one, as we narrowed ours down to 2 (its was hard finding them in our budget for what we wanted from them) at the end of March, and just as we were about to make a decision the other (thankfully not our first choice) said theyd had someone else enquire about our date - and that was back in March with a year to go. So, what I'm trying to say is, if you want a better choice, chose quick for them ?

A family member is making the cake and we have a good friend who happens to have set up her own wedding photography business last year and we have expressed intrest in having her do the photos . Probably need to sit down and make it officail though. Maybe if have slightly more doen than i think .... fingers crossed ?

Will keep an eye on this thread though you ladies can keep me on the straight and narrow !

I am a list maker and organiser by nature! I had a lull with family events but I'm trying to get back on it.

We've set our guest list a while ago, our venue ask for minimum 60 and I think we have 62, we've sent out save the dates and are sending proper invitations in January with a rely date of 14th Feb! Should give me a week or two to chase and then still meet with the venue.
