Marrying a short man ......Shoe advice needed pleeeeeeease

MsJackson78, 9 January, 2010 at 15:21 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi All

Are there any others out there who are wedding a short guy? My OH is about inch shorter than me. I am 5ft 6" and he has asked that I dont wear heel that is too high, I've also got a problem with my knee so cant wear a high heel all day. I am really struggling to find a really nice modern looking shoe. I luuuuuuuuuuurve shoes and I am a bit fussy which probably isnt helping but it is really starting to frustrate me. I ordered this lovely pair off good old ebay but they are too high and colour wasnt really right either. I think I'm gonna have to stick to nothing more than a 2" heel which is proving almost impossible in the styles I like. I dont really want to spend more than about £50 as quite unlikely I will wear them again.

has anyone got any pics to flash or suggestions of where to buy?

I had seen these rainbow club shoes http://www.elegantsteps.co.uk/products/Rainbow-Club-Willow-Wedding-Shoes.htmlhttp://www.elegantsteps.co.uk/products/Rainbow-Club-Willow-Wedding-Shoes.html

which have a v small heel.

I have seen a few Paradox PInk shoes that are fairly small too. If you go onto elegantsteps.co.uk you can filter them by heel size.

My OH is the same size as me so as soon as I have heels on im way taller than him. Which he doesnt like, i couldnt find a nice pair of small heels so have bought quite a plain satin pair and am customising them myself.

OH has also agreed to wear a pair of cuban heels to give him a bit of height too so there wont be such a gap between us

How about a pair of ballet pumps? I wore an ivory pair on my wedding day. They made me look in proportion to my H, but it also meant that my feet didn't hurt at all on the day!

I married a short man and had a very slight kitten heel on my shoes. Just made sure he was standing uphill in all the pics!!

My OH isn't much taller than me, and we're both short (5'2" and 5'4"). I panicked about shoes because my dress is not full length, so they'll be on view. OH said it doesn't matter to him if I'm taller on the day, but it does to me! I had a quick look at some websites and found loads of different styles with shorter kitten heels, so I'm now more relaxed about it (sorry, can't even remember which ones, should have made notes). I don't want to think about shoes until I've got my dress, and I can't get to the shop because of the snow, so I'm just waiting now.

My o/h is same height as me I hate wearing heels when I am out with him - although I don't actually mind as I can not wear heels for long anyway as they start to hurt.

For the wedding as other posters have suggested I was going to wear a comfy pair of ballet style pumps - I figured no one will see my feet anywaySmiley smile

For those opting for ballet style pumps, be aware that these get quite cold and easily wet in bad weather...

A photographer should be able to look for and find angles to reduce the height differential. I once had a 6' bride with a 5'5" groom.....
