Mashed Potato

Rizzo, 1 May, 2012 at 16:06 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 43

Having this for my dinner and am quite excited. As I have to embrace carbs again, it's back on the menu.

Does anyone like it as much as I do?

Exactly the same here. I love it, Mr Knees not so much, so we rarely have it at home. Plus on SW you can't add all the things that make it nice, so it's hardly worth bothering! I like it with a bit of added mustard. Sausage and mash with gravy is one of my favourite comfort foods.

I love smash! Not sure if it's as good for you as making out of proper spuds but it's so quick and loads creamier! With spuds I sometimes push it through a sieve a la Heston Bloomingsomething but it takes a lot longer.

Always add butter, mayo or philly to mine. Anyone add anything different to spruce up the taste a bit?

I do like a bit of mashed spud. I like spuds in all forms but my least favourite are boiled/new potatoes. My favourite are roasters although it's a toss up between these and chippy chips.

I am having a very cheapo/lazy tea of cheesy beans on toast tonight, its not even a real meal is it? I've eaten so much today. Naughty Panj.

    ? Get out.

I love proper mash but only if I make it. Loads of butter, salt, little bit of mint and some milk and mashed to within an inch of its life. If its got any lumps in it then I cant eat it.

Yep, love it, as does Boy. We have it lots, more so than other potato preparation. Skins on for the fibre as well. Salt, pepper, milk, butter, yum. Or soem cabbage, cooked in stock, mixed through. If I am having it on my own. I'll grate some cheese in (Boy doesn't like cheese).

Im only a fan of mine or my mothers. Otherwise i can take it or leave it. A massive knob of butter and enough milk to make it super creamy. Mmmm. Everyone elses mash just seems lumpy and boring.

I love mash! I do mine with lots of salt and pepper you can't over season mash in my opinion, add cheese, butter and cream, then mash away!

I add an egg yolk to my mash too, you cant taste it it just makes it really creamy and gives nice colour... another g.ramsey top tip! Loads of butter and a splash of double cream but only on Christmas day other wise would be the size of ten houses!

I LOVE Mash. I dont think anyone loves mash as much as i do.

I have a ricer and it makes the best mash. AND I have discovered that the best way to get fluffy, not sloppy mash, is to cook the potatoes whole in their skins...I do it in the microwave, scoop out, rice, add pretty much all the butter in the packet and a splash of milk / cream / creme fraiche. Scrape of nutmeg and salt.

    I'm actually drooling now.

I have a ricer, but I find, by the time I get all my bits of potato through, it's cold! Do you have a trick?

Mmm, love mash. In fact all forms of potato are good for me, I couldn't really play favourites between mash, chips or roasties. Or a really nice jacket potato come to that. I like mixing sweet corn into my mash, then covering it in parsley sauce. I realise this may make me odd.

Cannot abide smash, tastes like smooshed cardboard.

Mmmm I love mash too! In fact, I am also having it for my tea. My OH isn't fussed by it, but he works evenings during the week so I have a lot of meals by myself...so I get a lot of mash ? haha. Best mash I've ever eaten is M&S mash, it comes in a round plastic tub and it's perfectly creamy and smooth, delish. It also comes in varieties! Like cheesy mash, or colcannon (sp?) mash. Nom nom. My own tends to be lumpy because we don't have a masher, so I just use a fork, but I love potatoes in any form, so I don't care.

    ...I think it's time I go cook.

I also love mash! It has to have tons of butter and salt and pepper and usually mustard too. I sometimes add cheese but never milk or cream as i find it goes too sloppy.

LOVE mash, made with butter. It has to be completely smooth too. My Mum used to whizz the mash in a food processor as a kid, it was more like sauce by the time she'd finished! ?

I made bean mountain for the kids for tea, I soooo want mash now!! ☹️

    Smash is rancid though.

    Oh yessss!
