Matching Rings

Rizzo, 7 June, 2010 at 20:38 Posted on Planning 0 25

Me and my h2b have got different tastes and tbh the rings we've chosen IMO don't look good together.

Here is my engagement ring:

http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/product.asp?cid=11&pid=14422

And the wedding ring I like:

http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/product.asp?cid=2&pid=13986

And my h2b's chosen wedding ring:

http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/product.asp?cid=2&pid=13974

Do you think they go together or is it ok for the B&G to have different rings?

    Hi,

We both have the same rings. HSamuel do his and hers. Personally i think its ok to both have different rings (as long as they are not too different IYKWIM)

    These are ours

We haven't picked our rings yet but mine is going to match my engagement ring and OH can pick whatever he wants even if it doesn't match mine.

Wow, just looked at your ticker and you're very organised picking rings already! I think they look lovely especially your engagement ring.

    Thank you!

We kind of looked at wedding rings when we picked my engagement ring and I keep checking with him to see if he still likes the one he saw in the shop in the hope he caves in and agrees to get a white gold one. ?

Your rings are really nice, I wish we could have something like that but my H2B doesn't want white gold. ☹️

I think white gold and yellow gold bands look lovely in photos together. I think its good to pick what you want individually. You both intend to wear it forever and you wont ever show the off apart from in wedding snaps xxx

We've only very briefly looked at wedding rings so far, but ours aren't going to match. My engagement ring is platinum and so wedding ring will be too, whereas he much prefers gold jewellery for himself, so he'll get a gold one.

Ours are totally different but we each love our own and each other's, so it's fine.

Ours are completely different too, i wanted one that matched my ER but OH wanted something quite chunky....

Go with what you both like personally, like the other ladies have said the only time people will really see them together is in the pictures.

    xx

Your ER is very similar to mine and I have gone for a matching plain wedding band just like the one you have. H2b suits yellow gold better though, so he has a completely different yellow gold matt finished wedding ring. I think it's better to get something you'll both be comfortable wearing even if they don't match. You could always get them engraved with the same thing if you'd like them to have something in common.

H2b and I both want matching rings, but the ones that we had both wanted originally really won't go with my engagement ring, so I'm leaning towards having one that fits round my engagement ring with some diamonds, OH really doesn't want any diamonds at all though and I don't think he'd be happy with just a plain band...

We'll need to have a proper look at what's out there though!

I did originally want us to have matching wedding bands however we won't be able too. I need one designing which will fit around my ER and H2B wants something 'manly' as he doesn't really like jewellery x

We won't be having matching rings, I want my H2B to pick a ring he loves so that he will want to wear it, my Mum made my Dad buy matching wedding rings some 30 years ago and he has never worn it in all that time, said he did on and off for the first year but after that it just sat in my Mum;s jewellery chest. I want H2B to wear whatever style he likes regardless of whether it matches mine.

I really don't think it matters if they match or not - just go with what you both like.

Ours will match but only because we both want something plain and simple. We're going to have have platinum bands.

We're having completely different rings, im having a plain platinum band to match my engagement ring and OH is having a brushed white gold ring. At the end of the day we're both goin to be wearing them for the rest of our lives so we should have what we individually like.

I'm another one for the non-matching brigade! Initially we were going to have matching rings but I have to have a plain one for work (am a Physiotherapist soit has to be plain with no diamond) but H2B wanted something that wasn't plain. In the end I settled for a 3mm D shape 18ct yellow gold ring, and he's getting this in 18ct white and yellow gold

edited to add that so we are slightly "matching" we're both having the date engraved on the inside

Our rings don't match either mine is a plain white gold band & h2b's is tungsten with roman numerals on it, he doesn't wear jewellery so wanted something manly but also need to be tungsten or similar because he is a carpenter so needed to be hard wearing.

I honestly don't think it matters if you push him into a matching ring & he doesn't like it he won't want to wear it si I'd rather he wants to wear it than they match.

Yet another vote for non-matching. I'm having a very plain 18ct gold thin band to match my ER, he's having brushed tungsten.

    mine from www.theweddingringshop.co.uk Hatton Garden. 2mm 18ct yellow gold. £158 - reasonable I thought.

And his from John Greed, although a lot darker than in the pic

    http://www.johngreeddesign.co.uk/index.php?s_men_women=0&item_id=1637&show_details=1&&s_cat_id=1&s_sub_cat_id=104&s_manufacture_id=&s_brand_id=&s_prime_material_id=&s_min_price=&s_max_price=&s_best_seller=&s_ring_size=&Formitems_Page=&

John Greed btw are excellent customer service and an excellent price for his tungsten one (although it's not a precious metal so shouldn't be expensive). A good choice for the more unusual metal although I guess he does normal ones too.

At the end of the day, boys and girls get together because one's different from the other so why do you have to match?

It is completely up to the two of you. My Husband and I have totally different rings. Mine is yellow gold and was my late mothers yellow gold wedding ring with a diamond design engraved, while my husband has a black zirconium wedding ring with kind of a celtic design very him.

Ours wont match either, mine is 18ct white gold with 5 princess cut diamonds, H2B has chosen a plain flat style palladium band.

I was keen for us to have matching bands but I didn't want something plain and he did. We were surrounded by all these beautiful rings and he chose the simplest he could find! I dont mind tho, like everyone else has said, you may as well pick soemthing you like. As long as he likes it and will wear it, I'm happy!

WEES - i think it's fine to have non-matching ones. OH and i just happened to like a matching pair. also yours do look like the same kind of shape, just different colours. people won't really see them together anyway so don't worry! and you both must have what you like cos you will be wearing it every day forever!!xx
