May 2012 Brides ... How are we getting on?

Hello Ladies ? Well i've been AWOL from wedding planning and Hitched for the last 2 months. Really don't know how that happened! I've probably missed lots weddings and updates on planning, so just wondered how we are all getting on? Another Q - any 12th May 2012 brides getting married in a church?...

Hello Ladies ?

Well i've been AWOL from wedding planning and Hitched for the last 2 months. Really don't know how that happened! I've probably missed lots weddings and updates on planning, so just wondered how we are all getting on? Another Q - any 12th May 2012 brides getting married in a church? If so have you heard from your vicar yet? I'm getting a little worried, as i'm pretty certain ours said she would contact in November and we've heard nothing, OH is in the process of contacting her.

Anyhow i'm almost sorted (I think!) Still need to find someone to do my makeup and we need to buy our rings - after Xmas. OH is finally going to pick his suit on Saturday, after much pestering from me. Men really do not rush things.

So ladies, how are you all doing?

I feel like I am missing something somehow, really starting worry I will realise on the day that I have missed out something major. Does anyone have a really comprehensive list of things I should be considering? I would be eternally grateful!!!!!

OH still needs to go shopping for kilt (says hes doing it this saturday, I'll believe that when I see it)

still need to work out what I'm doing with my hair

Need to wait for final numbers before I book the lake cruise, but have now booked a violinist and DJ for the ceremony and reception.

Need to sort flowers (though have made enquiries)

    What I have done:

Dress (just waiting for it to be delivered) all accessories done including underwear and shoes (except for garter)

BM dresses (need to be altered), accessories all done (except for hair)

Flower girl accessories bought from Debenhams

invites sent (50% replied), ordered guest book and thank you cards. (I haven't ordered OoD yet, Crap !) DO I need it ? I included a mini OoD in the invites?

Cake being provided by restaurant, chair covers provided by restuarant too.

    Cake topper ordered

Everythings running smoothly here. I have probably now jinxed us by saying that!

Received all RSVPs back for day invites, before deadline too may I add. ? Yayyy for efficient guests. Just waiting for a few more evening RSVPs, but they had a longer date, so will let them off.

Booked makeup trial for end of March. First meeting with vicar this month, but that's not until 25th. Got my first dress fitting on the same day too.

Have just started the table plan and making the table name cards and place cards.

    101 days to go. Eeeeek!

So far, so good here... Rings have arrived today along with the last of my jewellery. Suits were ordered last week. Only had about 5 RSVP's at the moment, but we've got 4 people not coming so 53 is down to 49 now.

I'm now on with making the Order of Service for the church. We're going to church this weekend!

I wouldn't say you need it, but I just mocked some up on Vistaprint yesterday and it took less than an hour, and cost £4.11 (inc postage) for 25 - so don't stress!

    We've got a lot done lately;

    picked the cake

    finalised venue decoration

    organised a meeting with caterers

chose a day to give notice

    collected our rings

ordered MoH outfit, confetti, my underskirt, items needed for jam jar favours

    I had my boudoir shoot...shhhh!

    decided on readings

    ordered more invites and OoDs

    coming along nicely now ?

Finally made a start on the day invites this weekend, so should be out in by end of this month, gives guest 4 to 6 weeks to RSVP, should be enough, otherwise people put off and end up for getting.

Booked make-up trail.... OH needs a kick re suits, but after yesterdays tears and tantrums I'm feeling a little more positive, espeically when I lost 4lb last week! whoop Smiley smile

13 week to go!! 3 months tomorrow ?

Met with my table centrepiece lady today to finalise a few things. I've gone from double fishbowl centrepieces to tall Martini glasses, but she's doing them for the same prices so that's a bonus. Been to pay some of the honeymoon off too.

2 of my bridesmaids have their first fitting tomorrow for their dresses.

It's all coming together now, can't believe how quick the last 9 month have gone!

Just a check in ?! So everything is still on track, few little hiccups but hopefully I can sort. I have a couple of questions for you Mayer's though!!

    1) How soon are you going to chase RSVP's? I sent my invites out 2 weeks ago and still have lots to come back to me, just not sure when I should get chasing!

    2) My man's mother decided she was going to sort the wedding cake, I thought she would buy one but NO! She has a friend (More like secret lover lol) who makes cakes (we're having Vanilla/Lemon Cheesecakes). At first I was ok with this, thinking it would save her some money, but I heard yesterday that she is going to make them and freeze them for 2 months before the wedding!! I'm not so sure about this but hey what the hell do I know about cake making....any thoughts??

I have now purchased my wedding ring, not the usual band it's more like an engagement ring but with a pearl and diamond. It's lush. Hair extensions have arrived so now have to figure out when to have my hair trial!! I also have my two page boys outfits to buy as didn't want to do that to soon with them being growing boys!

How are you all getting on!!

Glad you're getting on ok Haylee

    1) My RSVP date isn't until 6th April, so no chasing until then!

    2) I would say that would be perfectly fine. In fact, it's probably sensible to ensure that they are perfect and not rushed

I'm actually beginning to get really excited about the whole thing. I've got my work hen do in 2 weeks ?

Having a few hiccups about my main hen do, but I think that's being sorted now

    Hi Girls,

I still have so much to do. Have picked up forms for marriage license today, so will get that sorted at the weekend. Haven't finished my invites as I've been busy decorating our new house with every spare minute. They will be organised soon-ish though. After that I need to do favour cards and order or service n I'm done on the stationery front.

Going to try my dress on at the weekend with shoes etc to let future MIL see it along with future SIL (and bridesmaid) so im really looking forward to that, after that its all systems go I swear!!!

Oh, we need wedding rings too, where has the time gone?! Won't be long til my wee ticker is counting down from2 months n 3 weeks I really need to hurry up, started out so organised too!

    Hey all,

seems like most of us are doing quite well! I've had a good week for wedding bits!

MOB outfit arrived on Monday and we love it! Just need to find hat & bag to match..

Table plan sorted, just need to wait for all RSVP's before I order the table plan - post box being ordered at same time

Catch up with BM's on 10th March to order their shoes & talk about their hair

Appointments booked for BM dress fitting, Suit fittings & me and mums hair & make up trials (14th & 21st April)

Meeting with florist 26th March to see a mock up of our centrepiece

Taking rings in to be cleaned/polished 5 May

Meeting at Venue first weekend of April to confirm final numbers for day, menu choices & just go through any other questions, was thinking what do I need to ask girls?

Couple questions I have: Do they have cake stand & knife, who will control music, where will everytning go, i.e cake, table for guest book/post box etc, run through timings & confirm our arrival drink choices

Anything else I need to ask?

Just left with all the little bits then - 2 more gifts to buy (am buying plants so have to wait till nearer the time, evening invites to go out, place cards to be written, favours to finish, quiz card boxes to make up etc etc

Ohhhh the list goes on...also need to sort bit for honeymoon...

WE had a very productive day yesterday, went and gave notice and OH finally bought his kilt hurray!!!!

I bought Bare minerals make up and need to keep practising applying it, as don't feel I'm getting it quite right yet. I'm not used to using brushes to apply the make up I usually use sponges feel that the make up can look a little dark when applied (OH keeps telling me it looks good but I don't agree).

Veil arrived and I love it

I've bought my underwear (still need to buy a dressing gown though)

Hair bands for flower girls bought.

I have booked a violinist and DJ at a much better price than previously quotedso I'm happy (still need to work out what I want played though....

and bought solar powered fairy lights for area outside reception.

    Still to do:

Flowers (really need to get my finger out

    BM dresses Altered

buy BM shoes and flower girl shoes/socks

need to decide on hair (a family member on OH's side is a hairdresser but it looks unlikley that she will be going now so need to rethink who will do my hair, possibly an auntie of mine who was a hairdresser a long time ago)

Been busy here sorting out weddingy things. It seems to have been pretty full on since New Year.

All RSVPs came back on time so OH and I sat and drew up a table plan. I have just spent the last day putting it all together, and it's now all complete. Also sat and made all the place cards for the table settings - that wasn't fun!

My BMs have been having their fittings for their dresses, so the dresses are now in the process of being made.

Hen weekend is all booked for end of April ? Finally!

We have a meeting booked with the Vicar next Saturday and my dress first fitting afterwards YAY!

God - you are all doing so well!

    I can't believe it's so close - 12 bl00dy weeks tomorrow ?

I feel like we have tons to do, but nothing that we can do right now:

We are meeting with the caterers next Saturday, after which we can decide upon our canapes and print the menus.

We are giving notice on 5th March, after which we can print the order of the days.

We still need to meet with our TOG, supply our DJ with a song list, make our favours, sort out stuff for our flowergirl.

I have my hair and make up trial, and my dress fitting next month.

We need to find time for dance lessons.

I have just found out that my Uni exams are 17th and 21st May...the wedding is 12th May - could be worse ?

It's not so bad, I always knew that they would be anywhere between Tuesday 8th - Monday 21st May...it could have been the day before the wedding, or the Monday straight after - which would have really put a downer on things. It's pretty much as good as it could be I think. A few days after the wedding to revise for the first, and then a weekend to revise before the second...plus we fly out on Honeymoon the next day! ?

Don't worry, one of mine is in New York and another is in Mexico! Colchester and Kent is more than do-able!

I have had half of my RSVPs back and have my first dress fitting booked for next month. I am freaking out at the time running away. Haven't even thought about my accessories or underwear etc.

I feel a mini meltdown coming on...

Just been writing my Off-duty in my diary. What with work, other work and teaching for St John Ambulance, I have 6 days off between 5th March and 15th April. 3 of those are booked up for weddingy bits already (MOB outfit shopping, BM dress fittings and FG outfit shopping)
