I have used www.brideandgroomdirect.co.uk for our wedding invitation. You can get free samples from them as well which is always a bonus. When looking for invitations, I would always see if you can get a free sample as you want to know what you're buying.

How is everyone getting on? What do you have booked so far?

I have church, venue (food and drink included), dj, bm dresses bought and save the dates ready to send out. I have my next dress hunting appointment booked and have seen one florist, with another two booked in.

Sorry, I forgot who asked, but I budgeted £500 for flowers. This was to include table centres as well and the last florist I saw it came to £508! To break it down for you it was: bridal bouquet - £65, bm's bouquet - £45 each and £7-9 for the button hole depending on male or female. Hope that helps.

i ordered some suits from next and they arrived today - £79 each! I'd so much rather this than spend £100 hiring them. They are gorgeous and I'm just hoping h2b likes them. I think not might be a bit too early to order them all now though. Hope they have a similar thing next year.

We have venue (all in one), caterer, magician, and chairs booked. I've found my dress, just need to go in and put deposit down and get measured up. OH started looking at (Welsh) Kilts waiting for him to decide which one he prefers before I narrow down my colours for BMs, but we have a style in mind. I've started working on centrepieces (theres another thread with a picture) and going to look at flowers soon, but I'm going down the artifical route (allergies!)

Thank you for this budget, I've been to see the florist today and will get a quote soon.

On another note, I can't believe that we can say it's going to be a year soon! I'm waiting for my countdown to get to under 400 days!

Thank you. They're from BHS. I really do love them. My colour scheme was always going to be pink, then I found these and there is now very little pink!

ditto - i always wanted pale blush pink but OH has decided he wants to wear a kilt one of which is very bluey/purple and the other is lilac, so i'm now going towards a cornflower blue/lilacy colour and prefering that now! if the colour didn't clash i'd be stealing these!! i love the cornflower blue dress from BHS but always seems to be out of stock

The kilt sounds a lovely colour. I'm hoping my flowers will be something like this, but maybe with a bit of lilac and blue to add a bit more colour. The flowers are driving me mad -it's remember I have 12 months to sort it out!

Oh that's very pretty - love the blue flowers. It's nice to see a blue kilt. Not that I've seen many, but they're usually green or red!

Yeah it's something a bit different. he did try on a red and green one, but i din't think it was as nice. He's waiting for a brochure to come from the Welsh Tartan Centre though which has the 'Owen' family kilt in and as that's his surname i think it'll tempt him so will be interesting to see as there's meant to be loads of different colours in there.

Also i've just added a ticker, and i'm at one year, one month and one week!!!

I cant quite believe that the ticker is actually moving now, at long last hahaha..

Planning all going well and made a great start of paying off suppliers Smiley smile

I finally bit the bullet the other day after a few months of humming and harring and booked/paid for a videographer and I am so happy that I have booked her now, she is a friend of our TOG and gave us a nice discount too Smiley smile

    Hello all!

im getting married 22nd may 2015 went dress shopping for first time yesterday! Loved it must have tried on 20 dresses but none gave me the 'this is the dress' feeling! How is everyone getting on with finding their perfect dress? How many shops have people visited? My mum seems to think I will have a dress in 2 weeks but I'm not so sure (I've got another 3 shops to visit) but I still don't know what style of dress I want! Strapless/high neck fitted or a line! So many beautiful dresses!

do other brides know exactly what they want??

I posted on here back in Feb and so much more has been sorted!!

Church, Reception Venue, TOG, Photobooth, Save the Dates, Florist, Favours - were all sorted back then.

Since then: Bouncy castle booked, wedding rings ordered (EEEK!!), Cake sorted, wedding cars sorted, DJ sorted, caterer, wedding night hotel, a shed load of decorations, all things needed for favours sorted and surprise ice cream van!!

Basically, nearly everything that can be purchase or ordered has been sorted/bought apart from Wedding dress and grooms suits etc.

And it is around 11 months to the date to go! Smiley smile

Hi everyone! My last post was in March where we'd sorted venue, church, photographer and band! Since then we've booked our florist, booked my make up lady, save the dates have arrived and I'll be posting those out in the next few weeks, collection of jars and decorations is slowly growing, AND I bought my dress! Im having my hairpiece made and still waiting for some samples to arrive so we can get on with designing/sorting that...Got our tasting evening at our venue later this month too, cant wait to nom nom on the delicious food!

The big things left really are cake, grooms suit (not my area!) and other 'wedding party men' outfits, transport, rings, honeymoon, and ive been umm-ing and ahh-ing over a videographer....probs wont, but keep changing my mind!

glad to hear its all going well everyone! and woo to it being less than a year away at last! x

Hi, you're the day before me Smiley smile

I've ordered my dress now Smiley smile I went to three shops, two on the same day and one a few weeks before. First time i only tried 3 but hated them all on me, came away completely disillusioned thought no dresses would ever suit me all the usual... anyway I took my mum the second time and went in with a completely open mind - tried on every style you can possibly imagine.

I knew in my mind I didn't want the big princess dress (I love them on other people, but just not me) but tried some anyway. The dress I've ordered wasn't one I picked up, but having been honest about every dress I tried - i.e. I like the neckline but not the skirt or I like the shape but not the train... the assistant picked one that I loved!

When I ordered it, it turned out to be the very first dress I had pinned on my pinterest board! Spooky!

I didn't have a moment where I burst into tears or anything - my mum did well up and when we ordered she was holding back tears. But when I put it on i instantly said, ooh I like this one and I didn't want to take it off. I went back 3 times (took my best friend and then my sister) and each time I just wanted to stand there in it. I've seen other dresses I like and think that's really pretty but none that I've thought ooh I wish I had tired that.

sorry for the ramble, hope it helps

    Hi all you May-ers!

How is the planning going? Time seems to ticking away at a fairly rapid pace for me!!

I think I've got most of the major things booked - just need to do the evening entertainment (band/dj etc).

Hope everyone is having a fun and successful planning time. ?

Hi - time is going by nicely - not too fast that i'm panicking & not too slow that it's dragging Smiley smile

I've got my cars booked, tog, MUA, cake lady (but need to go and have our consultation), flowers almost sorted, centre pieces over half way and started designing invites.

First of our guests have started booking the local travelodge (its currently a bargainous price of £23!) which is exciting!

Just need to sort where we are staying, OHs transport (hes indecisive), rings, BM dresses (shopping session booked for 6th sep) and OHs outfit.

Went through a period of major stress with my sister (jealousy?) over the hen do - but seem to have sorted that and thats also being planned now, so fingers crossed all good from here Smiley smile

I would have to agree that time is going along smoothly at the moment. All big things are out of the way and it will be just finalising the smaller (and bigger) things next year!

I am trying to sort out hair at the moment, have got chatting to a few people but not sure how to go about booking them because they recommend having a hair trial about 2 months before and with my wedding being on a Saturday I feel that that hair trial time is too late to change bookings, if needed. What have you guys done?

It sounds like you are both a bit more organised than me! I'm getting there though, and not too stressed about it.

I've booked by hair, and she said the same - a trial about 6 weeks before. I agree that it is quite late if you aren't happy with it. I think I'll just go with mine and hope for the best. If you're worried, could you call and see if you could have a trial soon?

Hello fellow May brides! We are getting married Saturday May 23rd - so the bank holiday, which means I've been stressed about booking suppliers! But, so far, everyone we've wanted has been available. After a disaster with our original venue, we've now booked and paid deposit for our reception venue, organised the church, booked TOG & DJ, I've requested a quote for flowers from our preferred florist, I've got my dress & wedding ring, and i sent off Save the Dates today! Still need to book a MUA, organise the cake, get my dress hemmed, buy h2b's ring, sort out morningsuit rental for the boys, buy the BM dresses, figure out invitations, and sort out the photo booth and centrepieces for the reception. That seems like a long list, but I feel like we're getting there!
