Looking at your ticker, I think we're date twins! I haven't sorted a MUA yet, but i agree that you need more than 2 months - especially as it's a bank holiday. perhaps you could explain that you'd feel more comfortable having an earlier trial, surely they will be flexible? x

Nice to meet a fellow date twin! I think I might try and sort a trial for sooner. I had a spray tan done today - I want one for my wedding but wanted to see what it was like! Looking ok at the moment but I will find out when I wash it off what it will look like.

Everything is ticking along nicely too, I'm in a bit of lull though as all the suppliers are booked and getting paid off each month so there's not that much to do now until the invites go out... I'm doing some DIY bits such as glittering up the table numbers and Mr & Mrs sign.

I have had my 1st make up trial and now decided to do my own which I'm a bit disappointed about but the MUA made me up like a drag queen, I looked just awful and was so upset so its put me off going to another one Smiley sad

    Hello May ladies!

Things are going really well! Got my dress sorted, and every other big thing... Just a case of picking up the extra decorations and stuff along the way!

Just out of interest, when are you sending your invites? I'm sending mine around the 6th January and our RSVP will be probably the last week of February..

Gbelbs and Sambarine I can't believe that is coming up to 9 months on Saturday!

In terms of sending out our invitations, we are going to do it after Christmas - we don't want any invitations getting lost in the Christmas post!

9 paydays left - that makes it sink in a little more!

We're the opposite, we are going to send ours in with Christmas cards - we didn't do save the dates so wanted to give a fair bit of notice.

Debating whather to hand deliver to the people we see most, or whether it's nicer to get them in the post?!

Gbelbs and smcallum - ack!! that 9 pay days really does make it sink in!!

I sent out our Save the Dates on Friday, which felt really early - excited for people to receive them in the post though so I posted them all rather than handing them out (except for the people who live in our building!) I always think it's nicer to receive in the post. I'm still umming and awwing over when to send the invites - our final date for catering numbers is 6 April, but we also have a number of overseas guests who are likely to RSVP no, so I want to make sure I get their replies in plenty of time to "bump up" some UK evening guests to the day. So will probably go with Jan/Feb like you, smcallum, as I agree that it's not good to do it just before Xmas. Speaking of Christmas and paydays, H2B and I were talking last week and have decided not to give each other christmas & birthday gifts this year - seems like an unneccessary expense with wedding and hen/stag dos to pay for, and his birthday is just after the wedding/likely to be during our honeymoon anyway!

My big things left to do which are stressing me out are the cake and booking a MUA. I have no idea where to start with either. A friend's aunt makes cakes so she really wants me to use her, but looking at her fb page I'm not too impressed.... and another friend is insisting on paying for the cake for us, which is lovely but awkward as I know they don't have much money and not sure they realise how much wedding cakes run to.... so may end up trying to get a discount from my friend's aunt and then fudging the invoice for my other friend!! too much stress. And I don't even know where to start with a MUA, tried to get recommendations from others who have married around here, but the brides on their websites look caked in slap, which isn't the look I'm going for!! Gah. But other than those 2 stresses I've had a fairly easy time of planning so far, so can't complain.

Next on the list is buying one each of the table centrepiece bits that I've seen on etsy, so that I can mock-up a centrepiece and see if it looks as nice as I'm hoping! May have to flash for opinions once it's done Smiley smile

I'm not quite sure what to do about MUA just yet, I've been practising my own make up and want to feel like me on the day. However, it would be nice for one day to look the full package! I'm struggling with sorting out hair, I keep looking around on facebook and on netmums, have chatted to some nice people but just not sure!

Oh dear lord I never thought of it like that!! I have so many things to buy in that time AND we have Christmas in between! I also seem to have every family members birthday between now & when we get married! Crikey I think I need to finda paper bag!

My STD's went out in May but I'll be sending the invites after Christmas as I'm scared with all the extra post they'll get lost Smiley atonished and I@m only giving my guests 5 weeks to respond, any longer and my lot will forget they've had them haha

When I say that we've got 8 months, 2 weeks left, that seems ages away but when you say 9 paydays left, that doesn't seem a lot, at all!!

    Eek....

This payday I'll be paying off the florist and paying the deposit for the table plan and place names..

Sept - my sons 21st birthday

    Oct - my friends wedding

Nov - the annual ball we go to each year

Dec- Xmas and then only 4 months left... Now, that's scary lol x

Seems I started this post and then never came back! Its been really hectic my end due to personal reasons and planning the wedding. I was very close to postponing the wedding all together☹️ but decided to still with May16th.

So since i wrote before we have booked...

    -Church

    -Reception

    -Photographer

    -Chair covers/decorations

-Brought all the grooms party outfits

    -Bridesmaids flower girl outfits

    -My dress (ekkkkkk)

& booked the honeymoon...Just the small matter of paying for it all now and saving! Think we've pretty much got everything booked apart from flowers so seem to be on top of everything atm.

Can't believe how fast the dates coming round! xx

Exactly this - i'm using christmas to my advantage as much as possible!

My mums using the tesco clubcard deal to get me a suitcase ready for honeymoon! I'm then asking for vouchers for beauty treatments that i can use just before the wedding, i.e. nails, wax etc.

OHs birthday is next month, and i'm going to root around the sales to try get him some nice holiday clothes ready for honeymoon.

I'm finally beginning to feel on top of everything now, i'm hoping the countdown to christmas will make the next few months go quickly.

I think you've all changed my mind now about not sending invites before christmas so i might leave that till early Jan then their arrival might take away everyone's january blues!

I've not got my bridesmaids dresses yet.

Two of my girls and I are going shopping at the start of October (that was the first date we were all free!), but I am actually seriously considering borrowing my sister's BM dresses from her wedding in March. That is was in NZ, so not many people will know! Will save a bit of money too!

I ordered the stuff for our invites last night from PDA card and craft. Will do a prototype once it arrives - hopefully they look good! Also ordered my wedding shoes online last weekend, but still waiting for them. Exciting!!

Another for the 30th! its a popular date! Haven't been bridesmaid dress shopping yet - i was hoping to go Oct/Nov time, no idea what style will suit them. I met up with one of them recently along with another friend and tried to get her to try a few styles of dresses but she wouldnt, so I think it might be a pain. I think she thinks I'm going to pick 50's style, (she's not really big into that era's style but she'd seen some she likes somewhere and although theyre nice day dresses, theyre not bridesmaids dresses and not in the style of our do) and although I want them to be comfortable, I'm definitely not having them and said so, so think she got a bit, oh I'll not try anything on then. And the other friend I'm hoping to get to come with me in Oct/Nov, but last time I spoke to her she pulled a bit of a face about the fact I wanted them to stay over at mine the night before the wedding (she doesnt drive and it'll be an early start and Im not picking her up from train stations and such) so if she's still thinking shes not going to do that, I dont know, I might see if she'll just do a reading or something...sigh!

Oh wow, that just turned into a mini bridesmaid related rant didnt it....I feel better to get it off my chest though, its been bugging me for months!

Been keeping my eye on this thread but not actually posted! I'm 16th May.

In a bit of a lull at the moment but did sort the bridesmaids dresses last weekend. Was keen on the multiway dresses so got a sample from In One Clothing. A bit early to get is sorted but I thought if I didn't like them then it gives me plenty of time of find an alternative. Anyway loved the dress and the colour (purple) yay! Not going to order them until probably Feb next year as I am unsure what size my cousin will be in case she has a growth spurt.

I've got my eye on a bridesmaid dress that I love. One of my bridesmaid has tried it on but the other one (my sister) has been travelling around Australia and she doesn't come back until November. I'm taking her to the shop the next day, whether she is tired or not!

Well, we've paid off a fair bit now so definitely can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We bought an old 2nd hand easel ( a bit tatty) a few weeks ago and I came home this evening to find my OH spraying the primer and now he's also sprayed the first layer of cream paint and its beginning to look lovely... How did I go from a relatively intelligent woman to someone who is gushing over a bl00dy easel hahaha...

The invites are going out at the end of next month so I'm really looking forward to that and I'm sure I'll grabbing the postie each day for RSVP's..

I can't believe how quickly the time is going now though, we have something on each month now until the run up to Xmas and then its only downhill from there, eek! Smiley smile

How are you all getting on?

We chose our Bridesmaid dresses the other day, 2 got measured and taking the other 3 at end of october (they're all trying to lose weight so they hve a few extra weeks) - that's the last possible date we can order them for them to come in in time! That's scary!

Meeting our cake lady a week Saturday to go through ideas. Then going to town with my mum to get my shoes.

Done a few mock ups of invitations just waiting on a couple more samples before I order.

Done some mock ups on the bouqets.

OH is going suit/kilt shopping as soon as he has a saturday off... could be a while though.

Girls are on a proper hen planning mission and hopefully it'll be booked at the end of the month Smiley smile

We have our menu tasting in October - when we booked it , it seemed forever away and now its a month!

Chosen my ring but not ordered yet.

Its really starting to come together now and time is flying by Smiley smileSmiley smile

    Hi,

    I'm the 23rd May too.

I felt totally unorganised until the last week: we finally met the registrar, booked the photographer and I found the dress!!

The venue is all booked we just have to decide on our menu and drinks package. I'm going to get silk flowers so i'll probably order them soon. A friend is driving me to the wedding and my bridesmaid is buying the cake.

I don't want to get to relaxed though, there are four of us in our house 3 of us with birthdays in december plus christmas is at mine this year and I have two big exams in Novemeber ?

Congrats to you all x x

    Hi

    update on my planning progress...

if it's done, then the deposit at least has been paid...

    Church - done

Reception venue - done (included DJ)

    Potographer - done

    Car - done

    Wedding dress - done

    Shoes - done

    Cake - done

    Flowers - done

Bridal suite - done. For me, Mum and BMs to get ready in. My Mum, my daughter & I will stay there the night before, I thought it was more luxurious than getting eady at home, plus room service, no worry about mess, etc.

    Makeup artist - done

    Centrepieces - done

    Invitations - done

    Still to do...

    Bridesmaid dresses x 5

    Mens suits x 5

    Wedding rings

    Honeymoon

Hairdressers chosen, provisionally booked but deposit yet to be paid.

Where's everyone at in comparison? What am I missing?

    Well isnt it approaching fast!?

My done list is as follows:

    Photobooth

    Ice cream van

    Transport

    Favours

Save the dates (went out 2 May this year)

    Evening invites done

In the process of finishing day invites

    Looooooaaaaaads of decorations/little touches bought

I'm pretty much as a similar place. It's nice to know that we are all in a similar place - makes me feel better about what I have left to do! I do want to get a MUA and Hairdresser but I have not found one yet and I know it's getting closer! Just happy that my sister (who is a bridesmaid) comes back from travelling soon so I can finalise what I want for the bridesmaid dresses!

Hi ladies! We're also in a similar place, just MUA/hair and photobooth (which is going to double as guest book and favours) still to book.

Exciting developments in the past week are: we booked our honeymoon travel! Booked the overnight ferry from Hull-Rotterdam and the motorail from Holland to Livorno, Italy, and back. We leave the Thursday after the wedding (28th May) and return on Monday 15th June. So excited!! Now h2b just has to plan our route through Italy and book hotels. I also decided I will buy us tickets to the Mugello MotoGP as it happens to be the day after we arrive in Tuscany, and also the day before h2b's birthday, as a treat to him.

We also paid the deposit for our florist - we've been quoted approx £500 for everything which I think is pretty good. I won a free makeup trial at a wedding fayre for me and one of my BMs, and the MUA has a hairdresser she often works with so waiting for quotes from her - the MUA is only £60 for bridal makeup and £25 for BMs, so quite the steal! Won't book her til after the trial though just in case there's a reason she's cheaper than others I've seen....

and... most importantly.... we gave notice on Wednesday!! Which was very quick and seemed to be an exercise in giving the council extra money, but still gave me a warm fuzzy glow :-)
