    Hi All,

I felt like this message needed to be bumped up because it much too far down the list! :-) It doesn't feel like that long at all until May now, after Christmas the time is going to fly, only 152 days until 7th May and I hope that all is under control!

If anyone saw my post before, I was to-ing and fro-ing about Bridesmaids. I wanted my girls there with me but the cost associated with that was scary at first...I managed to revisit the numbers a little and have decided to have 6 official bridesmaids, which was a great decision to make, it felt like a weight off my shoulders. My predicament was between 6 bridesmaids or 1, I just couldn't cut any of them! My sister is now happier that she has other bridesmaids helping her and my best girl friends are all going to wear lovely dresses! :-)

I spent the last weekend designing our invites and making some gifts for the bridesmaids. We've organised most things but haven't had much contact with the church about things yet. We attend the church that we're getting married in most weeks and not much has been said about the wedding, I'm sure that Christmas is the higher priority at the moment. I'm designing all the stationery and details myself, so feel quite disorganised with all of that but I'm sure it'll all come together! Someone convince me that I'm right on track and doing ok!

Hope all is going well for you too! Xx

I would contact the Church if I were you just to make sure everything is moving along as it should. We get married on the 21st May and have had 2 meetings with the vicar, gone through a basic outline of the service and set dates for our Banns to be read (VERY important and legal requirement). We're meeting again in January for final run through of the service and have booked in a rehearsal and a meeting on relationships and marriage, which might not be a requirement but I think it's nice anyway!

Glad you sorted out your bridesmaid situation, it can be really difficult juggling different people!

I know what you mean about not long at all, has anyone else found this year has just flown by! Wow you have counted the days and happy 5 months to go!

Glad you have your bridesmaids all sorted Smiley smile Oh how's the DIY going?

Expensive - you have completely panicked me, we haven't been to the church for a little while, and we don't have a date for our banns or anything, but our rector said they would email us to when we need to come and see them and organise stuff. Did yours do this too, or have we just been a bit lazy? The relationships and marriage sounds really nice.

Thank you! I have just emailed the curate (they are in the process of finding a new vicar) I am in regular contact with him anyways because I do some work for the church. I'm sure it'll be absolutely fine but thank you for that push to get in contact. We met the previous vicar back in January and discussed things very briefly (basically just saying we wanted to get married there) then confirmed the date with them in June but other than that, haven't really spoken about the wedding. Hopefully this will get the ball rolling :-)

Oh dear! I think after the initial meeting to fill in all the paperwork and copy our ID the vicar contacted me to meet up again and we got a lot done during that meeting including setting up all of our future meetings. My vicar does look after about 5 churches though so maybe she has to be extra organised!

On the other side of the coin, my local vicar (we're getting married in a different parish) has been really difficult to pin down for answers!

Maybe just contact the vicar to see if there is anything that needs arranging at the moment, the most important thing is getting your Banns read in time though!

Ooh gosh, I didn't even realise it was exactly 5 months to go! haha! I'm usually the first to notice these things!

The DIY is coming along slowly but surely, i was sewing Bridesmaids gifts yesterday and subsequently wrestling with my tiny sewing machine. Other than that I really need to get a move on I think, it feels like there's a lot to do but I refuse to get stressed out about it all.

As Expensive says, as long as you have enough time for the banns to be read, which is just 3 Sundays, you should be fine!

Expensive: Yeah he only sees people once a week for a 2 hour slot, and unfortunately can't make it this week, but we are 100% going next Saturday, but we have been to church events they've hosted. Like you not our parish 1hour drive away, but good kick up the bum so thank you!

Happy: Haha I love how you didn't notice, does get to that point though. Glad to hear that it's all coming together and yeah no point in stressing. I say panicking hehe. Yeah plenty of time, but am going next Sat though so should be fine Smiley smile

To be honest, I am feeling quite dejected about the whole thing at the moment, a bit of the excitements gone!

Most things are sorted but cant see to get excited about it at the moment.

Anyone else in the same boat or been through this emotion or am i a bit odd?!

I've had a few anxious moments this year when the excitement had gone and my enthusiasm/motivation for wedding things hasn't been there and I just wanted to be married already without all the drama that comes with it. But now, I'm very excited and very much look forward to the new year when I think that it'll all be go go go with wedding things.

I haven't had to lose any weight really but with all this nice Christmas food, I'm planning on a big health kick in the new year. Mainly so that I can fit into my dress comfortably again. I hope you girls who have lost the enthusiasm become excited by it all again. Just remember why you're doing all this. :-) Xxx

I think you have nailed it actually. There have been times when I've thought, f it, let's just go down the register office and elope and sod it all, but keep thinking of him at the aisle and that's comforting.

I'm not losing any weight either, but as the dress is very waist accentuating and even though not much of a tummy, do have those pesky love handles which in a chiffon dress, possibly not the best choice haha, so got some excellent spanx from Debenhams for streamlining. I even did lunges in the dressing room so really easy to move in, and not pants ones either.

I think we're fairly well on, which is good...all the major things are booked or in progress, once invites go out in the new year it will be mainly details we're working on. I am finding the whole changing my name thing a worry though...I changed my whole name by choice several years ago, talking my middle name as my surname which was my grandpa's name hence I am very attached to it. I do want to take FI's surname but I don't want to lose mine and he's not overly keen on double-barrelling, and we definitely don't want to have different surnames from each other! Dilemma.

    Happy new year everyone!

After a few months of not really doing anything wedding-related we've had quite a productive day. We gave notice and I think we've found the suits we'll be hiring. We had a delay with our invitations but they should be with us next week and we're going to Birmingham in a few weeks so we'll probably go to the jewellery quarter to look at rings. Oh and I nearly forgot the most exciting bit, we can book our menu tasting at the venue now!

    How's everyone else getting on?

    Hey everyone, Happy New Year.

i'd been feeling really fed up thinking about the wedding the last few months. Was just feeling bored of waiting around and a little bit of my excitement disappeared. We had our first proper meeting with our venue though on Wednesday to go over some details so I feel all excited again now.

Can't believe it's so soon, we are 7th May and I think it will fly in now xx

Hi everyone! Been a while since I've been on here, not sure where the time is going to be honest! Getting married on the 28th May and have sorted most things but really struggling with bridesmaid dresses, we have gone for a bottle green colour and it is so hard to find something suitable.

I too am feeling a bit 'bleh' apart it all, I'm excited but think I've just got into a lull with Christmas. Now its over I'll start to do bits and bobs again and sure I'll be feeling better about it.

    Not long now!

Happy New Year!! We are getting married THIS YEAR!! As soon as we got to Christmas, that's when it hit me that the wedding is just around the corner. I spent my Christmas break wandering around, not knowing what I should be doing with myself, mostly panicking about the wedding and everything that has to be done!

I did however get our invites designed, I'm just waiting on a couple of details from the reception venue and then I can get them printed. I think as long as they're ready to send out before the end of Jan, I'll be pleased.

I think it's quite normal for the enthusiasm to lower a little at this point, it seems to be quite common for all of us at the moment, I'm assuming most of the big things are sorted and it's a case of the little details being done and a lot of those decisions have to wait.

I hope the excitement returns for a few of you soon! Xx

    Happy New Year Everyone!

I am slowly starting to get some wedding enthusiasm back, partly due to the OH upgrading us to business class for our honeymoon as my Christmas present.

We also went to Hatton Garden on Saturday and bought/ordered our wedding bands! Got a really good deal with lots of discount so that helps with the budget Smiley smile

I can't believe we are getting married this year! NYE that really hit home.

Hope everyone isn't getting too stressed with things and those who were losing their wedding sparkle are slowly getting it back Smiley smile

Couldn't resist a PP here to say I got the email yesterday about my dress arriving in store, whoop whoop! Can't wait to go and see it. The store has recommended having my first fitting 8-10 weeks before the wedding, does that sound right? 10 weeks before would be 12th March which feels like ages away!

I was advised to go for my first dress fitting about 6 weeks before the wedding. I've booked it for 8 weeks before, on the same day as my hair and makeup trial.

Mine is booked in for 6 weeks before, I believe 6-8 weeks is the norm for a first fitting. If I could have it any later, I would as I'm trying to lose weight!

You should be allowed to go in and check your dress and just try it on beforehand though. When my dress arrived, the shop booked me in for about a week later to come and inspect it and try it on. ?

Regarding the dress fitting as mine was ex sample I've been told 3 months before and with my wedding shoes so the legnth is accurate.

If they measured you properly I think 8 weeks approx is a good time frame. Means they can adjust the length due to shoes etc, and you'll hopefully have your viel too so can see the full affect. Really exciting that you got the email though.

Gosh dresses starting to arrive, eeeeek. Though I'm glad they say to leave it 6-8wks before first fitting as I'm trying to lose weight and worried they'd call this month! I'm doing slim&save which is a meal replacement plan, drastic but I was rubbish at trying to lose baby weight last year. Lost 6.5lbs since 2nd Jan.

I wanted to ask you all how you found hairband/tiara if you're having one? They are some lovely ones online but I ordered one in Nov sale and it was really painful when i tried it on, so would rather try some on before buying next time (I got a refund so not all bad). Also where have you purchased veils? I don't fancy paying bridal shop prices for one?

My top job at the mo is to get invites out. Fiancée is getting them printed by a supplier of his for free, but I have to keep nagging him to get it sorted, so frustrating.

I'm having flowers in my hair, but I've seen tiaras and hair slides in Debenhams that are quite nice. Also, Accesorize usually has some nice clips and pins.

Theres also a website called Glitzy Secrets which i have some lovely ones. I need to see what the returns policy is though.

The place where i got my dress also has lots there too.

My dress has been in since October/Nov! I have been back to try on since and (i think!) the lady said 8 weeks before for first fitting as she does alterations in stages.

Wow you girls are organised! Our invites have just been dispatched from the printers and I'm so looking forward to seeing how they look and to send them out. Our RSVP date is 7th March for 7th May wedding.

Last weekend was taken up with other things which were unplanned so I hope I get some time to get organised this weekend. I'm feeling a little behind but I'm sure it's fine! :-)

Why do people overrun? Glad that people are least sending them out and shouldn't have to chase up. We've been quite bad about the invites, only just got them printed, but we had save the dates, so we* weren't that worried.

    * I wasn't he was!

Lazybride: Have you tried http://www.lovemedobrides.com/items.aspx?c=87 they do offer reduced veils and I don't get why they are as expensive as they sometimes are, but I'm looking into town soon from memory they were selling bra length ones for about £20.

Also before I forget OptimalPrint are doing 50% ends today at 11.30! So if there's anything that you need, have a quick look on there.

Sounds like everyone on here is in full wedding countdown mode now! I've been addressing the invitation envelopes this week - a super boring job - the day ones are just about ready to go out, think I'm gonna hold off sending the evening ones for another week or two. Our RSVP date is 31st March for our 21st May wedding.

Going for our planning meeting at the venue on monday, it's all starting to feel very real and getting a bit too close for comfort!
