So far I think I'm pretty organised, venue booked, menu chosen, registrar provisionally booked, dress bought, shoes bought, STD's sent out, invite's being made, wish tree being made, post box being made, 'aisle end' flowers made, MOH chosen and dress bought (possibly to be changed!) Photographer, videographer, hairdresser and DJ for the evening booked.

Left to do are finishing the 'DIY' bits (invites, table plan, place names, table names.... SO MUCH still to do!, Wish Tree and post box to finish!) giving notice, confirming cake design and booking it and various 'little bits'.

How is everyone else doing? ?

Hey!! This is so exciting! I'm 20th May. Feeling really organised. Venue, caterers, registrar booked and notice given. Band and bar booked. My dress, flower girl, page boy and MOH outfits bought. Suits booked in. Invites have arrived just hanging on as didn't expect them to be here so fast! Lady arranged to make cake. Cars sorted as H2B work friend has an old VW camper van and in laws have an Evoque so 2 nice freebies. Florist, hair and makeup all booked in. Have bought 90% of centre piece bits. Both have our rings now. I booked a photo booth as I suddenly wanted one for some fun and then came across the big light up LOVE letters so thought why not.. Whoops! It seems to be just the odd fiddly bits like table plan to do (have the stuff to do it) and other loose ends to tie up. Oh... And paying the final balances Smiley sad !!

Looking forward to hearing about everyone else xx

I feel very behind! 6 May for me.

We have our venue, which was a package so that's also the food and DJ booked. I have my dress, hair and makeup are booked, we have our photographer and videographer, transport for OH on the morning. We've booked the florist and our LOVE letters which I wasn't going to get until I found some that did multicolour changing lights!

My current selection of jobs are bridesmaid dress and designing the invitation. I'm waiting on my engagement shoot pictures and then we can get the wedding website set up as I want to do RSVP online rather than through the post.

I've started pulling ideas forcentrepieces together but want LED candles and sparkly bits so I'm going to wait until just after Christmas and see if I can pick up some bargains in the Christmas sale!

Suits can wait until later in the year and we'll give notice later too, no rush really as long as it's before the deadline. We already have the date booked.

Sounds like we are all at about the same stage in our planning which is reassuring- not sure why you think you're behind Slink!

Definitely a good idea to look for candles and sparkly bits after Christmas- I got some lovely decorations for our wish tree last year in the sales and plan to hunt for more this year! It's hard finding bits that aren't too 'Christmassy' but they are out there ?

    Hi

I'm getting married on Saturday 27th May.

I currently have my venue booked which includes catering. I have also booked photographer, florist, cake, chairs and chair covers, DJ, Piano, Hair, Make up and 1st hen do.

I have just started looking at wedding dresses and finding it really hard to narrow down exactly what i want. I have six bridesmaids and not thought of what they are wearing yet. No suits organised for the men and page boy. Currently working on invites at the moment - that was a really hard decision to make. Need to purchase rings. Looking at the added extras such as letters, postbox and maybe a photographer. Just started buying the little bits like photo frames etc to decorate the place.

We are planning to give notice on 31st August.

The dreaded final balance. Luckily we haven't booked anything unless we have the full amount of money but that has meant waiting for a few things.

We're 27th May! I absolutely can't wait, I get butterflies every time I think about it.

We have sorted venue, photographer, DJ, bought my dress, booked hair and make up, hired LOVE letters and a bouncy castle, just in the process of booking the cake, we are using our own cars for transport so that's sorted. I am currently obsessing over bridesmaid dresses and invites which we can't agree on. I get slightly panicked every time I think about both as I just want to make a decision and cross them off the list.

I've also booked a bouncy castle MrsW2017! I'd forgotten that ? The one we have booked is robust enough for adults too- and I suspect the kids won't get a look in!!

What are all your colour schemes? I'm fascinated by colour, probably because my OH is colour blind! I've gone for Two shades of purple (dark, not cadbury and Lilac/lavender) with splashes of Old Gold and a tiny bit of green.... unfortunately my OH can't tell the difference between the purples and the green! Ooops! ?

I think our bouncy castle is more for the adult too!

We haven't really got a colour scheme. My OH keeps going on about it but I'm trying not to give away the fact my dress is blush. I want sky blue BM dresses so he seems happy enough with that.

Your colours sound lovely, are you going quite opulent with them?

I guess we are being quite 'opulent'.... though hopefully not over the top!

My planning thread is here: https://www.hitched.co.uk/chat/forums/t/532283.aspx (sorry, can't work out how to link it!) if you want to have a look!

Edited to add: There are more pictures on each page! ?

I wanted a big multicoloured wedding, and my flowers and décor will have lots of colour in there. The further into planning I get I realise navy, grey and gold are our colours which underpin the general colour explosion that will take place elsewhere!

That sounds really striking Slink- have you got any flashes for us? I can't change my colour scheme now, but I wish I'd taken longer to think about it and had chosen something less popular and a little more classy.... Navy, gold and grey with splashes of multi sounds AMAZING!!

Hello May Brides! Smiley smile All your plans sounds amazing! 9 months to go - how did that happen?? I'm getting married on the 27th. We've booked venue, church, photographer, hair, and DJ. Florist is provisionally booked in. I've got my dress, but it needs taking up about two feet because I'm such a shorty, and I'll be wearing flat shoes as well! It was the third dress I tried on (hate shopping - couldn't wait to get it done and over with...fortunately I loved this one, and it was a total bargain too!). Save the dates have gone out, and I'm designing the invitations and stationery myself, and will be DIYing the decorations and cake. Have got my BM, her mum and my mum all collecting jam jars for me! We're going for a really relaxed, outdoorsy, natural kind of feel. Lots of flowers and fairy lights Smiley smile

It feels like I've got aaaaages, but we got engaged five months ago and that time has absolutely flown by, so May will be here before I know it!

Looking forward to hearing more about everyone else's plans! ?

Oh these bouncy castles sound amazing! What are they like? Loving the sound of the colour schemes. We have navy with a splash of pink (mainly just the flowers and my MOH dress) . I keep spending way too much time on Pinterest and finding amazing decor ideas. Xx

31st May here! Very excited although also have fleeting moments of anxiety (not about being married, but about the day itself going wrong!) so far we have sorted:

    Registrar booked

    Venue

    Photographer

    Food/drink (included in venue)

    DJ

    Dress

    Shoes

    Flowers (&centre piece flowers)

    Wedding rings

    Hair trial booked

Car for me and my dad sorted

I think that's most of the main stuff! We are going shopping for bridesmaid dresses next weekend and booking our honeymoon next month. Still have suits to sort out and transport for the bridesmaids. Other than that, it's more details now... Invites, favours and make-up are next on the list. Also want to sort some form of entertainment... Thinking mariachi band!

Mariachi band would be so cool.

I don't have flashes as it's all just in my head! I've not been great at scrapbooking my plans.

We have an evening DJ but have 2 hours either side of the breakfast with nothing to do. We will buy some board/card games for people to play amongst themselves while they chat.

Yep! OH told me it is always nice that weekend so he has of course jinxed it - it was rubbish that weekend this year! I really hope it's nice though as we picked our venue based on the gardens and outside space, I'm not as keen on the inside! I think there are quite a few for the 27th

    20th may for me :-)

    So fat we have booked/brought:

    Ceremony venue

    reception venue

    My dress and shoes

    catering

    photographer

    DJ

my dad will be sorting transport out as our gift. One of my maids is getting us our cake as gift. The OH still hasn't chosen his best man which is completely stressing me out! But he has finally decided on what kind of suit he wants. Will do sort bridesmaids dresses out after Christmas (hopefully grab a bargain in the sales)

I've spent many hours already on our table decs, just need to get some more battery fairy lights. We are having different shaped bottles painted in matt black with lace around where the label would normally go , with a flower , probably sunflowers or chrissys. Ivy snaked around them with fairy lights. We're going to do save the dates but OH couldn't make his mind up and suddenly it's nearly time to send actual invites out! So haven't bothered with those in the end. Our day is going to be sort of non traditional as in my dress is black and the whole thing gets more gothic the closer we get. Our DJ is a local favourite who does the rock club circuit so there may be a few raised eyebrows from the more mature relatives haha!

I have to say, the closer it does get the less stressed I am about it. I fully anticipate turning into a gibbering wreck the week before though!

    :-)

    Hi,

I'm new to the forum but i'm a May 2017 bride, 20th to be exact! Reading everyone's replies I'm getting REALLY stressed we are behind. We have booked our venue, photographer and cake. I have my dress and have sent all Save the dates.

The problem is from July most vendors have been busy because of wedding season so was hard to get appointments and I had issues with planning, money and my family but we now got loads provisionally sorted. Seeing the caterer for a tasting this Monday and then if they are good we will be booking them, have decided on someone to run our day and do all decorations- just going to have a final meeting with them on 5th Sept. and then book them, and we are deciding between 2 DJs one we are seeing hopefully on the 3rd of Sept. and the other on the 10th.

We have also chosen are wedding rings and will be ordering them in November as prices are meant to drop them. Am I being stressed for no reason or are we very very behind???

Hello and Welcome to Hitched PengAly!

I don't think you need to stress too much as long as you have things in mind and know who you want to do what and have some plans to meet them- which it sounds like you have!

To be honest, as long as you've got your venue (and registrar or Church!) booked and your photographer, those are the main things- the rest will come together, I promise!!

Welcome PengAly! Another date twin of mine. Don't stress! Once you've got those bits booked in it will feel a lot more organised. I hated having enquiries but nothing booked as such. It's all very exciting though. Enjoy it as I just spend way too much time now overthinking silly little things!

Thank you everyone! I guess I am over stressing, like I said I do have plans to meet people and things are provisionally, I think the accomplished feeling of actually booking these things is what i'm waiting for but i'm sure by end of September I'll be in a much better place!

I'm 20th of May too - looks like there are several of us! I suppose it makes sense, what with it being a Saturday and all Smiley smile

I thought I was kind of on top of things, but looking at how super organised everyone else is I'm starting to feel a bit unprepared ... we've got the church, venue and photographer booked, but that is literally it. Guess we'll need to sit down soon and talk about rings and clothes and food!

The ticker on my phone says there are 234 days to go! When do you think we can start getting excited?? May still feels like ages away to me, but we've been engaged for seven months now, and have just over seven months still to go...so I guess that means I'm almost halfway! Maybe once the six-month point is passed things will start feeling more real. ?
