May Wedding - Can't decide on Theme! Flashes please!

Princess_Dimples, 17 January, 2010 at 16:38 Posted on Planning 0 7

We've finally set a date...5th May 2012 (long time yet!) and I want to start gathering some ideas on themes. I don't know if I fancy one colour. OH doesn't particulary like pink, and I don't like things looking to plain! I was thinking Pastel colours...not sure though! I love Tulips and Gerberas, so they may be my bouquet flowers. Also we're going to have a candy/sweet bar. We want it to be a fun and lively day. So any flashes of inspiration would be great!!!!

I'm going for cream and emerald green as my theme.
We are having a Celtic/Pagan inspired wedding, so my dress is a handmade medieval/Pagan gown in crush velvet and H2B is from Scotland, so wearing traditional dress.?
I know it's not typical, but I'm so glad I'm not being pressured to be traditional! Plus I'm working on a small budget, and finding it really easy to get cheap jewelry and decorations. Yay!

It's your day, so do it however you want!

    Hi

I'm helping plan a May wedding at the moment... the theme is summer meadow, green, whites and a tiny hint of pink.

If you're not into pink what about Yellow or even blue of lilac.

    HTH

Sorry, don't have any pics, but we're planning a wedding at the moment where all the bridesmaids are in different pastel colours, and each is having their own colour bouquet to match their dress...pink, pale green, pale yellow, lilac etc. Then they're hosting their own tables (too many for the top table I think!) and carrying their own colour through, with just marshamallows to tie it all together. My idea of heaven.....

Try to find a local supplier who can install some LED uplighters into your reception venue.

These can be set to produce almost any colour and can really complement a venue and enhance your chosen theme.

Last years most common combination of mood lighting was Pink and Blue, where the Pink was varying between light Pink, through Hot Pink to almost Magenta, but always mixed with Blue's.

These would be laid out so they alternated between the colours.

They can be used to light flower stands, cake tables, window frames, entrances, or any other type of feature your venue might have.

Be aware of not paying too much though, many companies over charge for this type of lighting, or at least I feel they do, as I provide this same service myself and know exactly what things cost and what's involved some companies charge over the top prices for such a cost effective service.

If you decide to check out any local suppliers then expect prices between £150 - £300 this is for local suppliers who do not have to travel far.

    Hope this helps.
