Meeting our photographer - where?

sunshine_bunny, 19 April, 2017 at 13:59 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi guys,

We met a nice photographer at a fair recently and we're going to meet him again before booking him for our engagement shoot and wedding. We live very closeby...is it best to meet in a cafe somewhere or invite him to ours? I said he's welcome at ours because he mentioned that normally he'd invite us but his wife just had twins and it's hectic, and we're meeting on a Friday evening so it'll be busy everywhere. However, I don't know if it's strange for him to come over to our house? Or do you not think it matters??

Thanks!

Perfectly fine for him to come to you at home.

Well done for meeting your photographer before the wedding. I always think it's a good idea to meet up to make sure you like them as well as their photos. The more comfortable you feel with your photographer, the better your pictures will be.

Inviting him to your home is absolutely fine. I've met lots of couples in their home and it's a great opportunity for me to get to know my clients better.

Our photographer came and parked at our house, but then we went to Costa for a drink as it's about 2 minutes walking from our house haha

Totally fine for them to come to your house IMO Smiley smile

Ours came to our house for a chat, it was fine, although he did get goosed by the dog which was quite embarrassing (it's a rite of passage when you enter our house though apparently).

We met our photographer in a pub garden (always a good excuse!), but we met with a potential videographer last night who came to our house. I initially thought this might be a bit strange but actually it was fine :-)

I usually arrange to meet my couples somewhere mutually convenient for a coffee, but given yours is so close to you, meeting at your place is fine - I've visiting my couples at their homes before, especially when they are nearby. It can be a bit of a mission finding somewhere to park and lugging my suitcase of work and samples around, so sometimes just parking-up outside a home can be reassuringly stress-free!

Ours is the brother of my OH's best man, he's great but he lives in Perth, so we won't discuss things with him until the week of the wedding, I'm a little worried. He's a great photographer and he's known OH since he was a couple of years old so I know he's very trustworthy so here goes. Eek!
