Memorable things you remember from childhood.

Bride2BMilliexx, 25 April, 2012 at 13:26 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

Inspired by the trends thread it really made me smile seeing some of the things I used to love as a child. So thought we could all reminisce over old tv shows, clothes, hairstyles, playground games etc ?

One thing I remember not too long ago was ponchos, also clogs, and skorts.

Also my fave tv shows were tots tv, the clangers and bagpuss.

    My fondest memories are:

Summer holidays actually was a proper Summer and we used to play outside every day!

Getting 10p for sweets semed a fortune when fruit salads and blackjacks were half a pence each. Space dust!

Sitting on the floor in front of the TV when Top of the Pops was on with my little tape recorder and finger poised on the record button. Did the same with the radio 1 charts on a Sunday.

    Lady Di wedge hair styles

Pedal pushers and clogs. My favourit outfit at the time....

Buying my first proper single on a record, Shy Boy by Bananarama and my first album, Grease!

TV programs, Dallas, Multi coloured Swap shop, Chips, Hart to Hart

Mum taking me to my first film at the cinema, Star Wars

    Toys: Merlin and Simon

My first 'computer', A sinclair ZX spectrum which was really snazzy as you could load games on to it with a tape recorder Smiley tongue all i played on it was Pong.

    Good times Smiley winking

Spacehoppers, spending all day with ponies, a box of "Weekend" chocs for your birthday, Spangles and Life saver sweeties and having no fridge or freezer so ice cream for pudding meant sending someone to the corner shop straight after main course was eaten!

I dont have a lot of good childhood memories. My dad was violent towards my mum and he beat her regularly but one particular time was so bad that one night he almost killed her. She was totally unrecognisable bcause of her injuries. And I saw the whole thing. I was only 10 but being the eldest I had to grow up quick so was mature for my age.

Sorry folks I was sitting here trying to remember the good but I only remember the bad Smiley sad

    CG ?

My earliest memory is when my little brother was born. I was 4 at the time, my Dad picked me, my older brother and a family friend from school (dad never picked us up so this was a novelty in itself!), it was snowing like hell outside, mum had a home birth so we got inside, took our wellies etc off and then crept up the stairs to meet the baby!! ?
