MENU dilemma!!!

mrshickstobe, 13 February, 2011 at 20:56 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi everyone, Im brand new to this but am getting married on may 7th this year.

My problemis this......

I have already sent out my invitations and have since reallised that I havnt even thought about a MENU for all my guests!

I have a set menu, so Id like some advice please.......

Is it neccessary for the guests to know what the menu is, and if so, would it be better to send everyone a copy through the post, or have themon the tables on the day?

HELP ME PLEASE

thank you

We have a set menu, and a vegetarian alternative... we are putting a menu on the table.

Did you ask for dietary requirements on the RSVP?

I asked guests to let me know if they wanted a veggie meal on my RSVP card but I did not provide them with a menu.

I will be having menu cards on display at the wedding breakfast. Most weddings I have been to this is all they had.

Similarly my venue only giving me one choice we have gone for the "safe" option of chicken rather than red meat.

If you have guests that you know are veggies/ have allergies you could always get in contact with them to confirm?

We are just having menus on tables on the day- had not chosen our meal when the invitations went out. Also asked people to let us know dietary requirements on RSVP cards.

We also have a set menu, and whilst we asked for dietary requirements on the rsvp, we can't cater for likes and dislikes so are just putting the menu on the table on the day, so people know what is on the plate. danger of letting people know beforehand is if they simply just dont like something they will either worry about it inwardly, or openly moan about it and try and get you to change it!

We had a set menu too but our venue said they would also make up a few alternatives for those that didn't like the main meal. We had salmon so they made up a few chicken dishes just in case. Might be worth checking with your venue if they do similar?

It's not absolutely necessary but it's quite nice - and can provide a talking point around the table to break the ice if people don't necessarily know each other. You could perhaps have a Table Number/Name card with the menu printed on it on both sides to keep the cost of it down?
