Menu tasting tomorrow.

celticcurl, 23 April, 2015 at 12:36 Posted on Planning 0 16

Finally got a caterer sorted two weeks ago - we'd been let down by a few. Really pleased with the one we've found. He rang me last Friday to invite me, OH and my parents for a tasting tomorrow evening. We're giving our guests a choice between two meat dishes, a fish dish, and a vegetarian dish. It was easy to decide what meat and fish dishes we wanted so OH an dad are going to try a meat dish each and mum is having the fish. I'm vegetarian and wasn't sure what I wanted, he said he'd send me a list of suggestions. When he rang last Friday he said he thought it would be better for me to try so he's doing me taster portions of 6 different veggie options! Can't wait, I love food. Diet, what diet?

You'll love it! We had ours a couple of weeks ago and it was the best meal we've ever had!

That and my OH said to me during the meal - the next time we'll be in this room we'll be getting married! That was a scary/exciting in itself! Smiley smile

    Have fun! x

We're not having a pudding course. OH's favourite thing is ice-cream so we are having an ice-cream bar available all evening - choice of flavours, with toppings, fruit salad and meringue. We're also having a chocolate buffet - my favourite thing and the wedding cake is four different flavours. With all this a pudding course seemed surplus to requirements.

Looking forward to tonight though. Early lunch to make sure I'm hungry. Who am I kidding? - I'm always hungry!

Well it was lovely. They actually did 3 different meat dishes and did four portions so my dad and OH were very happy. Mum loved her fish and also helped me taste the veggie options - there were 5 in the end. All this was served with gorgeous roast potatoes, new potatoes and lots of different veg. They also served me two potential welcome drinks that I had been very dubious to try but they were recommending as they serve it at lots of functions. I was pleasantly surprised. It is very cheap so will save money on the prosecco I was planning to serve. It was all very relaxed and fun and we were able to discuss slight changes and ask questions. They also served us two alcoholic drinks each. I was very surprised that they didn't want paying for any of it. We gave them a donation to their nominated charity.

We've settled on two meat options, the fish, and two veggie options. I'm particularly pleased about this as being a vegetarian it bugs me when I go to restaurants etc and they tell me what the vegetarian 'choice' is. If there is only one vegetarian meal there is no choice!!!! (I appreciate it's more difficult with functions such as weddings so not criticising other brides)

I have total confidence that they are going to do a great job. I'm also confident that we have got an unbelievably good price.

    Very happy bunny.

We've chosen a beef blade in a red wine sauce, gammon topped with chicken breast in a sauce (can't remember what type), fillet of seabass in a cream and chive sauce, portabella mushroom and spinach wellington with a sauce (to be determined), roast mediterranean vegetables and halloumi. All served with roast and new potatoes and various vegetables. I'm hoping there's enough variety there to keep everyone happy.

    Thanks Mrs Shep.

It's good to get one of the major things sorted. We've made so many changes recently but it is all finally falling into place.

July 25th so about 13 weeks yesterday. In the last two weeks we've changed the reception venue and therefore have also had to change all my decor ideas as no longer fit in. We also changed the time of the ceremony which meant I'd lost my car as he had another booking but then his other booking cancelled!! Just booked bridesmaids transport today. Found a cake maker after another one let me down. Having two bands but one let me down so had to find another - really pleased with the replacement. and having lost 3 stone my dress that I bought last year two sizes too small fits. Still want to lose a bit more to look better in it but the main pressure is off. So a few weeks ago it was all looking very different but it has all suddenly fallen in to place and I'm really looking forward to it.

If you're going to the meet up in Birmingham, I'm intending to as well, I will still be on a high so will bore you all rigid?

I won't post identifying photos on here - previous stalking incidents mean I value my anonymity!

Hey Schwelley, nice to find a date twin. I hope your plans are going well. I tried on another dress today - looks like I might be about to change something else!
