Hi Anna Belle, I'm so sorry I didn't reply to your message on Loopy's commute thread. I didn't check back after posting my reply and it's only today I noticed it had bounced to the top that I had another look, so sorry again...?
Re Tunbridge Wells- H and I love it here. It's still got a nice 'town' feel about it, it's got decent shopping, lovely bars and restaurants and some really beautiful houses and architecture if you like that kind of thing!
Plus points - as above plus good access to London by road or rail. Crime rate reasonably low. Moments away from surrounding beautiful countryside of Kent and/or East Sussex. Just over half an hour drive to the coast for proper fish and chips ? and loads of beautiful villages, National Trust buildings etc.
Negatives- Not a lot really, property can be a bit pricey, some areas of TW should be avoided, the property tends to be a lot cheaper but that's because it's right next to the Industrial estates and/or railway line. There's not a lot of night life, I don't know how old you are but if you are still in to clubbing <old fogey icon> then you'd probably have to travel farther afield for a bit more choice.
We don't have kids so I can't give you my take on schools. T Wells does have a lot of very well respected private/grammar and state schools though so you shouldn't have a problem finding a good school if that's important to you.
If your H decides to apply for the job and is succesful, feel free to give me a hollor and I'll see if I can help with any more questions.
Copper, xx
