Hey all,
Thought this was overdue, it was a month ago yesterday, cant believe how the time has flown!!
I will TRY and keep it brief though, im not the worlds greatest writer
Ceremony was at Haldon Belvedere, Devon. Reception at The Great Barn, Devon.
Thursday
The weather was absolutely appalling - surprise surprise! We had just had loads of lovely sunny weather and it was just my luck to get the rainy week the week of the wedding. Early thursday hubby and i went to collect the suits, he tried his on in front of me which was a really surreal experience. All week I had been incredibly calm, almost like it was not happening but i think it started sinking in then.
Later on that day with my mum i went to collect my dress, I had been into the dress shop every single day that week as my dress was tulle/lace with 11 irregular layers for the poor seamstress to bring up! she said it was the most complicated dress shes ever done! (trust me!) It was everything i hoped it to be!
Thursday night we were allowed into the venue to start decorating, then we revealed to the poor owner that we had 30 metres of hessian for runners on the tables, hessian is a nightmare material to work with and i dont advise it! We spent about 3 hours trimming all the frayed bits!!
Friday (Day Before)
Back to the venue to do all the decorating, took most of the day but it made all the tiny little details all seem worth it.
Bridesmaids arrived and stayed in the cottage next to the barn overnight and had civilized tea of pizza and bucks fizz and played bananagrams! Still not nervous - was surprised by that, was just happy to have my friends around me!
The Big Day!
All my bridesmaids were up before me surprisingly, i emerged at 7.30am! Slept really well apart from waking up and looking at my dress for 10 mins which was hung up beside me, went back to sleep with a massive grin on my face! I found out my hubby was up at 4am! hehe
Looked out the window and it wasnt raining!! But it was awfully windy, i dont know what i prefer, but looking back the only annoying thing about wind is i lost my hairstyle quite rapidly! we got married at one of the highest points of devon and that was a disaster waiting to happen!!
The morning was a big blur of hairdressers and makeup, be careful girls because i thought i had hours and all of a sudden the cars arrived and i wasnt even in my dress!! I sent the girls off the ceremony venue and my dad and brothers arrived (my brother drove me in my dads executive car to the ceremony) dad went to find the button holes and all of a sudden i was alone in the cottage, in my dress and finally it sunk in!! Managed to keep the tears back though and got myself in the car, which was feat in itself!
The rest was a bit of a blur also, i do remember some key points. I didnt even notice everyone in the ceremony room until my bridesmaid did her reading.
Also about 2 minutes into the ceremony i took my h2b's hand as he looked so nervous, we hung onto each other for the rest of the ceremony which makes me well up just thinking about it.
Im a big crier and cry at almost everything, but for this i managed to hang on until we exchanged rings! So proud about that!!
The rest of the day was amazing - the sun came out, the food was stunning and the venue just looked fantastic. To top it all off we had the most amazing crowd on the dancefloor - the band said theyve never had a wedding group so up for it from the word go!
we finished the night at 2am just the two of us in the cottage giggling over our cards and pressies and reminiscing over the amazing day!
So there you have it, short(ish) and sweet
and some more flashes
Oh and PS - We did a TTD photoshoot the next day too!
