Mini-moon recommendations?

yummymummy05, 25 August, 2010 at 20:40 Posted on Planning 0 13

Evening All, I'm in need of your advice and recommendations.

We're not planning on having a proper honeymoon straight after the wedding. Will probably just have one next year instead.

Me and H2B would like to go away for a few days after the wedding. Problem is, we have no idea where to go. We just want someone nice and kind of romantic with just the 2 of us. Got to try and convince someone to have our little one for a few days.

Any recommendations fo places to go would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

    Hi

We went to Devon for afew days - it was amazing!! stayed in a 4* Bed & Breakfast for 4 days and had a great time. You could look at cottages if you really want it to be just you and your husband!! I googled holiday cottages and a good one came up called skycottages or something like that?!

    Not long now!!

    xx

I'd definately recommend the Cranleigh Hotel in Bowness on Windermere

It has the most fantastic rooms, very romantic especially the sanctuary which is a bungalow at the back with its own private hot tub outside. and the best bit for me is breakfast delivered to your room when you want it.

    Thanks Ladies,

I'm near manchester and dont fancy going too far out. Maybe Devon is a bit too far. I'm currently thinking about the lakes, edinburgh, york and various other places.

    Hi,

We are manchester too and have 2 little ones so also didn't want to venture too far. We are going to Chester for a couple of days and staying at the Grosvenor. Granted we haven't been yet but the hotel looks gorgeous and my friends who have been are so jealous.

We're planning to go to Otterburn Hall for a couple of days after our wedding as we're getting married only 1 week before Christmas. We've been to Otterburn Hall quite a few times, it lovely.

Hi, have a look on the hoseasons website....they have loads of log cabin breaks...my parents went to one in Gisburn, Yorkshire recently for their anniversary and they loved it...was a romantic break for them....the cabns have hot tubs there and alsorts and they highly recomend them, and some are adult only so ideal if your not taking your little one!

I am from Manchester too - where abouts are you from?

    Ideas:

    • The Lakes - check out the Sharrow Bay Hotel in Ullswater - michellin starred food and right on the lake
    • The Peak District - mmmm bakewell tart...
    • Echo York
    • Echo Edinburgh - fantastic place! Heard the Balmoral is amazing
    • Harrogate is meant to be nice.
    • London is a great city and only a two hour train journey
    • North Yorks - there is a place that has a hotel with own private outdoor hottubs, sorry cant remember the name!

    Loch Lomond!

St Andrews is slightly further than Edinburgh but absolutely gorgeous!

Oh, if you go to Loch Lomond this hotel is fab - stayed there a couple of years back and some rooms offer 4 poster beds - food is amazing, location is fab (scenic village) and staff can't do enough for you.
