Minor dress panic....

MissKB, 30 May, 2014 at 11:29 Posted on Planning 0 7

So went to try my dress on yesterday to make sure all the alterations were right, and was ready to bring it home. But as I was stood, swooshing around while my bridesmaid floofed my train (technical term), I thought I saw a hole in one of the seams. EVERYBODY STOP....is that a HOLE?! (may have sounded a bit Bridezilla at this point ?)

Bridesmaid drops down, takes a look. Its not a hole, phew. Its just been sewn funny. What?! Saleslady tells me they can steam it out; go for a coffee, come back and it will be perfect. So off we go for coffee, come back, as soon as I walk in I can still see it. Saleslady tells me it looks much better. No no, I can still see it. I will probably see it in all of my dreams until next Saturday. And everyone else will see it too and question why I'm wearing a dress with a hole in it

So instead of bringing my lovely dress home to hang in all its glory at my parents house, its still at the shop, ready to be fixed.

And I cant collect it until next Friday. Which is 1 DAY BEFORE THE WEDDING. Having a slight panic about this, heart rate has definitely increased.

It will be ok wont it?!

Breathe. I'm sure it will be fine.

If you've got lots to do the day before the wedding, delegate some of it now so you've got less to do on the day and can concentrate on a few important things.

    Ditto the breathe lol.

I can imagine your panic - I know I'd be the same but where I fail you excel. I would see it, prob say nowt and be upset about it and get a right grump on and cry and make-do cozit's what I do. You've spotted it and told them to do something about it and so they will. Better you saw it now rather than in a week's time on a certain day Smiley smile It will be fine!

Yes, it absolutely will be fine.

BUT, if I were you, I would phone them back and tell them that your confidence in them isn't as you'd like it to be, and not getting your dress back until a day before you get married is making you feel anxious, therefore you would like them to have the dress ready by Tuesday please so that if anything further needs to be done after you've checked it, there is time.

Stand your ground, they are in the wrong!

Yes. I need to keep calm

I'm off work Thursday and Friday next week so can only collect it those days, so I'm going to call later and say I have too much to do on Friday so it needs to be ready by Thursday.

I'm usually the type of person who wouldnt have said anything and just simmered about it underneath, but I'm so happy I spoke up... its a lot of money and I want it to be looking perfect!!

If it isn't perfect, it doesn't matter - it will still only be the tiniest of imperfections, and everyone will be looking at you and how beautiful you are.

BUT you should also demand a partial refund because they seem to be treating you rather shabbily.

Ah thank you cymruangel! Thats a great idea, I genuinely would have just taken it away in defeat that I paid for alterations that weren't up to scratch. Hopefully though it will have been sorted, fingers crossed!! ?
