**MissToffee's Very Overdue Wedding Report!**

MrsToffee, 22 June, 2015 at 22:44 Posted on Planning 0 35

So it's now been 72 days since our wedding, I was planning on doing this report much much earlier but it took longer than expected to get the photos back then I had school reports to write! So here we go!

The Days Before

Tuesday-- I had my hair dyed by my brother's girlfriend, this wasn't in my original plan, I was going to be my usual cheap self and get my mum to do it but decided last minute to get brothers gf to do it as she is a hairdresser, and I'm so glad I did, I am now well and truly hooked into professional colouring!

Thursday--We had accumulated a fair amount of stuff in our DIY efforts so I'd boxed it all up and we took it to the venue with instructions on EVERYTHING! I didn't really want to hand it all over as I didn't trust them to take good care of it, they did of course but it was quite stressful! In the evening my mum and I went to get our nails done, a first for both of us! It took me a while to choose the colour but settled on a nude-y pink with a few diamantes on my ring finger nails. I went first and all was good, chatting away and starting to feel decidedly wedidng-y, then as soon as she put the diamantes on I started questioning my decision, I kept quiet thinking it was just because I'm not used to stuff like that. then she did my mums; a french manicure with a subtle sparkly line and they looked amazing and all of a sudden I hated mine! Cue me being a tad bridezilla and requesting she take the (gel) polish and diamantes off my ring fingers and replacing it with the same colour with a touch of glitter, this is apparently much more difficult than I would have thought and it took her AGES! I felt very mean but happy once they were done!

Friday (Wedding Eve)-- This was the day that I'd been a bit worried about, we had been planning to do all the flowers ourselves but once we'd looked into coss it just wasn't worth it, we had however decided to do the buttonholes, corsages and my mum offered to do two floral arrangements on sticks. We went to the market in the morning and bought A LOT of flowers then I decided I needed a new bracelet for the wedding so we went to a few shops to find one (got one in Claire's in the end!)

I dropped all the flowers and my mum off at my parent's house then popped home to get some stuff ready and actually see my husband-to-be for a few minutes! When I got back to my mum's she had made a good start on 'her' arrangements and reinforcements arrived in the form of my mum's friend, one of my BMs and a friend of mine so we made a start on buttonholes and corsages, we'd over-brought on flowers somewhat but just kept going with making and ended up with enough to provide all the 'important' men with buttonholes, my mum, MIL with corsages and all the other female guests with buttonholes too!

It was then back to mine to collect all my stuff, I dropped off all the button holes at my parents-in-laws' and said good bye to H2B who was off round to his friend's for a bit. As I was getting ready to leave there was a knock on the door, I answered it to our next door neighbours who serenaded me with 'You're Getting Married in the Morning' it was very funny and sweet of them!

I spent the evening at my parents' with my BMs, we had pizza and half watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding whilst chatting, at 11 I realised we hadn't practised walking to my entrance music so had another small bridezilla moment and forced everyone to do that, my mum then started stressing about where everyone was going to sit, I think she wanted everyone on the front row, 2 BMs went off home whilst the other stayed over, and off to bed it was, still no nerves really!

The Morning

I wake to my alarm and rain, I never want to get out of bed and today is no exception but I don't have time to snooze as I only have half an hour until the hairdresser arrives, I'm just brushing my teeth when she arrives, no-one else is up so I rush down in my towel and let her in, made a cup of tea then leave her to set up. Back in the bedroom my BM has woken up and wishes me a 'Happy Wedding Day!'

Before long the other BMs arrive and it's all stations go with hair and make-up! My dad's on breakfast duty and gets fresh pastries from the shop YUM!!

It's still raining but all apps say clearing up by 10, just in case it doesn't I cheer myself up by opening my card and present from H2B which are both lovely, and then the bouquets arrive, I was so excited about this bit, my bouquet was stunning, exactly what I'd wanted, the BM ones were a lot smaller than I'd expected, I'm sure she'd said she'd put a few hydraengea heads together but I might have been mistaken, never mind, it's all good!

I had my make up done and she put the fake eyelashes on, I looked in the mirror and they look ridiculously long, I say this and she suggests trimming them, as she's doing it she reveals she hasn't done it after she's put them on before! I wasn't worried though and they turned out great! As I was having my hair finished my dad came practically running in to announce there's blue sky at the front of the house! It's about then the photographer turns up and takes a quick few 'getting ready' photos before I have to put my dress on.

Next installment coming up! I was so impressed with the flowers too, especially my mum's ones, she's doing some for her friends wedding as well but I don't think she could turn it into a career, they took ages!!

I had my mum helping but really struggled so we got the photographer to come and help (she really went above and beyond her photographer duties all day) and it's a good job I'm not self-conscious because I had her hands down the skirt of my dress and my mum's hands up the skirt! We finally get it sorted and do a 'first look' with my dad, he cried which I was totally not expecting and then it made me cry! He went off downstairs and I went to the top of the stairs to make a grand entrance then my underskirt promptly fell down! Cue my mum and the photographer back up to lift my skirt up to make sure it's properly secured!

When I make it downstairs the cars had arrived! We had a few photos then I went for a practise wee before having last few hair and make-up touch ups, we realised my mum's friends were hanging around outside, they wouldn't come in though!

The hairdresser and make-up artist leave and that's when I start getting really nervous! My mum and the BMs leave and my dad and I give them a few minutes before we go to get in the car, as soon as I'm in my mum's friends (who are still hanging around!) make me get back out so they can take photos!

    Meanwhile my H2Bs morning--

We drive to the venue and chat about the roadworks and rather randomly the phonetic alphabet! There are more photos when we arrive and a few latecomers too!

I have a meeting with the registrar who tells me the groom is ok but the best man is nervous! She also complimented me on our choice of readings and said they'd managed to "squeeze everyone in" (turns out my mum really had wanted everyone on the front row!)

    It's time!!!

We don't time the music quite right but I get to walk in at around the bit I'd wanted to and then I don't see anyone in the room apart from my lovely H2B.

The ceremony was amazing, we had chosen the vows from the registrars booklet but they were still very emotional and my brothers were so fabulous with their readings!

When we turned around at the end I started to actually notice we had guests! We signed the register and then walked back down the aisle, we should have thought about timing for this too as we hardly got into the song before we were at the end!

As we got out of the ceremony room we were given a glass of champagne with a strawberry in and was told we had to take a look upstairs before heading out for canapes, it took a second to register but there was a band on the landing, we've been to the venue for wedding fairs when this has been the case and I think my thought process was "Ooh a band...wait...this is our wedding...where did they come from??" it was a local swing band who I'd mentioned very early on in wedding planning when we were saying "Wouldn't it be good if we could have..." and then I realised my mum and dad had booked them as a surprise for us!!

We headed to the foyer for champagne and canapes and saying hello to all our guests, we pretty quickly headed outside for the confetti shot so we could enjoy the good weather, I had a "Phew" moment as for a second I was back in organiser role handing out confetti!

The band joined us outside, we had a few group photos, including a mass selfie!

My new husband and I were whisked off for our photos, I loved this part of the day because we talked non-stop, it was as if we'd been apart for weeks! Although at the same time I wish we'd had more time to mingle with our guests and enjoy the music!

We had a little while for this before our lovely MoC double and triple checked how to pronounce our last name before herding everyone inside to be seated for the meal. We got announced into the room and everyone clapped and cheered!

The meal was delicious, everyone opened their favours and put their badges on, we went to take a look at the cake before dessert was served and took some time to move around the tables chatting with everyone.

It was time for the speeches and I think my dad was a bit nervous because he'd had more than enough dutch courage but did brilliantly anyway, there were some funny bits and I got very emotional over parts when he talked about me as a little girl!

Husband's speech was also amazing, the highlights were when he mentioned how long we'd been together and referenced one of our guests age (we got together at his 18th party), when he said he's actually seen his brother smile, when he said "...she's not one in a million, she's one in 7 billion" (he said he'd had to look up the worlds population on google!) and best when he finished with a wrestling reference!

The BMs speech was hilarious, he said he'd keep it "short and sweet...like Lloyd's (groom) love making" and said that when Lloyd asked him to be BM he sad he asked him because he's like the brother he never had" (whilst looking directly at my new BIL!)

We had tea and coffee served out on the patio and before long everything was set up for the evening and we had MORE photos and then the evening guests started to arrive!

(I think I'd gone to the loo at this point!)

Our first dance was lovely at the time but very awkward to watch back! We then had an amazingly fun evening with lots of trips to the photobooth, dancing (and laughing at my brothers' and my mum's dancing) and chatting, and MORE photos!

I did have a bit of a cry when they played a slow song (Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud) as I thought it was all over then I realised the night was still young!

Once it did have to end we said goodbye to everyone and went up to the hotel room to find two of my BMs had snuck in and put confetti EVERYWHERE!! We put an order for breakfats on the door, I got out of my dress (and cried again!) and we opened a few cards before crashing in bed!

In the morning we had breakfast then went back to bed and opened more cards and had some pink fizz that had been put in the room but we couldn't manage the night before!

All in all an amazing day and I would definitely do it all again!
